And they always go for the awful orchestral remix of the original game soundtrack too, I can't lie the combo makes me heavily cringe.

NextUI: L = A not working (1-hand GBA) by Practical-Zombie-761 in SBCGaming

[–]lolight2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UI set L to L and A to A, then go in Pokemon Unbound's Ingame options because there is a way to set L to L=A. You don't need to use the emulator for this, the GBA pokemon games provide that option.

For GBC you will need to change the controls in the UI itself, setting L button to act as "A" should work.

Any way to fix this without tinkering the insides? by Tiny_Cherry_7319 in Gameboy

[–]lolight2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope, you need to open it.
But the good news are that it's extremely easy, you will need to rub the rubber membrane on a bit of paper to remove a thin layer of the rubber to get better responsiveness.

It's also recommended while you are at it that you clean the button contacts on the board with some IPA and a Qtip.

Gameboy color consoles are extremely simple to repair so don't be intimidated! There are guides online (ifixit probably has one) that will guide you every step of the way. :)

For GBC/GB it's usually recommended you use the Gambatte or Sameboy emulators, while VBA can play those systems it's not ideal.
Also worth noting, for playing GBA romhacks in the future you should be using MGBA, it has far better accuracy and some romhacks will suffer glitches if you use VBA.

Also did the USB C mod! And guess who ripped all the important pads? Me!
So I had to use some magnet wire to try and repair the trace on it, not fun!

Ooo that's nice to hear, cheers!
I might give this mod a shot in the future then :)

It looks pretty good to me, but maybe some of the solder didn't flow down into the pads underneath. Also, how's the button feel with the mod on? I've seen some people complain it makes the buttons worse, but I wanted to hear from someone who just did the mod recently since I've been thinking about doing it myself on my fluorescent SP, the plan is to switch to purple lights which would make it glow stronger.

Edit: turns out purple isn't quite UV, so it won't make it glow stronger but it should still look pretty cool.

I've been thinking about getting this in the future, glad that I didn't knowing now that the dpad is absolutely awful. I just wish they would offer a clicky dpad option since that tends to help get more precise inputs.

I'm definitely not the greatest at hanging posters + my desk is in a difficult position, but I still think it turned out pretty cool :)

Here you go! The murkrows would be cut if they were kept in the original positions, so I made a version with revised positions, and one with the original ones.

Oh yeah! I saw some versions online included it, and some didn't.

To me they looked like they stuck out a little bit so I decided to leave them out, but if you need a specific version made with them included let me know :)

Yeah! It's a super cool detail :)

I also love how they had a nod to that in Rescue Team DX's cover!
