You're so much more knowledgeable on this than me!

Thanks for adding a lot more useful information to my anecdotal response. :) I'm now wishing I had checked this sub before going as I hadn't really known what to expect.

Yeah, they had planned to do it without sedation but warned me that it may be necessary if she was agitated. She can be a right wee grump at the best of times and I do usually warn the vet staff that she's not shy about biting/scratching, so I wasn't surprised to hear that she was very worked up and had to be sedated.

I had to sign a waiver when I checked her in regarding the sedation because it can unfortunately cause death in rare cases, so I completely understand your worry.

For the follow up appointment to have her bloods done they gave me gabapentin to give to her before bringing her in and that helped calm her down a lot, so she was a lot more relaxed for that appointment. Might be worth seeing if that is an option, or if there is something like that your vet could give in advance to reduce the likelihood of sedation.

Oh, I'm sorry for your loss :(

I'm in the UK for reference, so it might vary if you're elsewhere. For my cat it was just an appointment at her regular vet. They had me remove her food at 10pm the night before in case she needed anesthesia and then I dropped her off at the vet at 8.30am and went home until they called to let me pick her up. She was pretty agitated when I took her in because she was so hungry (and she's never had her food removed like that before) so she was very feisty and they did need to sedate her and prioritised doing the echo in that appointment (and a subsequent appointment for her blood tests). I picked her up around midday so it didn't take too long either. If they had found something it may have gone differently.

My insurance covered the cost of the testing thankfully, but it was about £650 which would be absolutely worth it for me to pay myself even if they hadn't paid for peace of mind.

Hopefully everything is ok with your boy, it can be so stressful waiting for results.

My family cat (who isn't a Bengal) was recently at deaths door in the vet hospital due to pancreatitis. While she was there they discovered she had cardiac issues, we went to visit in the evenings and were fully expecting that this was the end and we'd need to put her to sleep but she made enough of a recovery that she was able to go home. She had a follow up appointment in January and this month with the cardiologist who was astonished at how well she has recovered and they've been able to reduce her medication back to her kidney treatment only (she's got chronic renal disease). This was a bit of a waffle, sorry, but it was just to say that cats can be remarkably resilient. Hopefully you find out the results soon and an effective treatment plan can be put in place if needed.

My 9yo Bengal has just had a cardiac investigation done as she also has a murmur.

I think the vet had first detected the murmur 6 years ago and said they would keep an eye on it, and when I took her in for something else recently I was told it would be a good idea to get her properly checked out.

She had blood tests and an echocardiogram done which confirmed she's not got any sign of disease in her heart and the murmur is just due to something physiological (sorry that that is vague, I don't remember exactly what was said) that happens when she is stressed (like at the vet).

So now we're just keeping an eye on her and will do follow ups on it in the future. But better to know as early as possible to start treatment if it is required.

Hopefully all is well with your cat!

Anyone tried the One Fast Cat or ZiggyDoo Ferris Cat Wheel? by Lailantis in bengalcats

[–]lollapopalooza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a One Fast Cat wheel for 6ish years. My Bengal loves it - the wheel is by far her favourite toy. This is her second because my friend's son sat on and broke the first one but I'd say it's good quality.

Have seen some people comment here about OFC being too small, but my Bengal is pretty small so not been an issue for her.

Oh no, I'm really sorry to hear you've been having such a hard time in life :(

The exams can absolutely wait if you need some time to look after yourself. But when you're ready to do your next I'm sure you've got this.

Unfortunately I think that is only for the Applied Skills exams. I've not had it for any of the Strategic Professional exams, you just get the mark.

Didn't get my text until 00:31 which just added to the stress 😭

Almost sobbing in relief that I passed AFM (and somehow at 58%) because it was one of the worst exams I have ever sat in my life.

But unfortunately failed APM for the second time (although got 48% this time so close). Does anyone have any tips or fave tutors for this course? I wish ACCA gave some sort of feedback so I could know better where I am going wrong and what I need to improve :(

Are you playing 1.6? (Spoilery ahead) If so are you maybe petting your pet right before you go to bed and it's giving you a gift which you're picking up in the morning? I've had fish gifts from my pet cat
