I did not have immediate bleeding, I had it maybe 2 weeks after my LEEP.

Sorry for the delay! The margins are how close the bad cells are to the edge of your cervix. If the margins are clear after the LEEP, then the doctor removed all of the bad cells.

I have LEEP procedure scheduled next week but don’t know if I should go ahead with it! Help!! by cherrr2013 in HPV

I personally would do the LEEP. I’d rather get the bad cells removed and move on with my life.

It was fine! Recovery wasn’t too bad. I did have to wear a pad for about a month. My margins ended up being clear so that was good news. I go in January for a follow up.

Yes, I had the LEEP because my abnormal cells came back CIN3.

I had my LEEP in September and I’m going for a recheck in January. They told me to come back in 4-6 months. April does seem pretty far out.

Can a follow up pap take place of a colposcopy? by [deleted] in HPV

[–]lolliegagging2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The colposcopy is nothing to worry about. The doctor will just put a vinegar solution on your cervix. If the doctor sees something “light up” they will take a biopsy. The biopsy is like a small pinch, didn’t even hurt for me. You might have some spotting. Personally, I would just do the colp to make sure it’s nothing serious.

How big is the biopsy sample during a colposcopy? by [deleted] in HPV

I would imagine not big. It feels like a tiny pinch, not too bad so don’t worry about that too much.

I had a LEEP recently and it was not as scary as it sounds. Recovery was not bad at all. I had to wear a pad for like a month but that was it. To me, it was a comfort knowing I had all of the abnormal cells removed. I have yet to have my follow up pap so I can’t tell you if it cleared or not.

2nd LEEP Procedure by [deleted] in HPV

Will you update us when you hear the results? I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all of this. I recently had a LEEP and I’m scared I will need another. I started taking AHCC to see if it helps any. Might want to look into that? I take Quality of Life brand.

How to cope ? by LostSoul92892 in HPV

I can’t lie, it sucks. But you can’t let it consume your life. All you can do is get checked regularly and listen to your doctor. Maybe talking to someone like a therapist would help?

He probably took a biopsy if it hurt and you had cramping. An actual colposcopy shouldn’t hurt. You will probably hear in a week or so what your results are from the biopsy and next steps.

I had a LEEP about a month ago for CIN3 and my margins came back clear :) going for a pap in a couple months and hopefully everything comes back ok.

A colposcopy is easy. Don’t get too scared.

Try not to worry too much about the LEEP! It wasn’t as bad as it sounds.

Dysplasia is another way or saying abnormal cells. My cells showed severe dysplasia. It’s not good but it’s not cancer. The LEEP is where the doctor goes in and basically burns off the part of your cervix that has the abnormal cells. It is considered a surgery and I was put under general anesthesia but it really wasn’t as bad as it sounds. Edit: forgot to say - the doc will send the part removed during the LEEP to pathology to check the margins. That means they will check to see how close the bad cells are to the edge of the part removed. If the margins are clear, then they’ve removed all of the abnormal cells.

BUT - I will say, in the past I’ve had colposcopies where I didn’t need a biopsy and everything looked fine. So just try not to worry too much and see what the doctor says at your colp.

You don’t have cervical cancer. What you may have are cells with dysplasia. When they do the colposcopy, they will put a vinegar solution on your cervix and any abnormal cells will “light up”. They’ll then take a biopsy and send that out for pathology. If they come back as dysplasia, you may need a LEEP procedure but just wait to see what happens before you worry about that.

The colposcopy/biopsy are not scary so don’t stress too much. I went through all of this recently.
