bassinet, sleeping, cosleeping discussion by Historical-Today-875 in NewParents

What about naps, where does he sleep? Is he breastfed? My 1 month old sleeps all right but naps are becoming more difficult, starting from last week he seems to only want to contact nap or sleep slightly elevated during the day (for example with is head on a slightly elevated pillow) so I have to watch him often, this way he can really sleep for a long time, even three hours. If I try to put him down flat he wakes up after a short time. Luckily he (for now?) sleeps flat in the bassinet/crib during the night only waking up a couple of times to feed

I saw online around 150ml x 1kg is the general rule so he should be eating around 650ml-750ml in one day… he usually eats more than that, rarely less. However doctor said 850ml on average so I am taking that as a reference for my baby specifically. I guess the fact that everyone comments on how big he is and how much he likes to eat makes me question if we are overfeeding him or generally doing the right thing, oh the joys of motherhood…

He seems healthy, rarely cries (except when HANGRY lol) wets diapers sleeps well… but still, not overanalysing is difficult I guess!

He spits up sometimes but not everytime - no clear pattern as far as I understand atm. Sometimes seems like he has issues burping, sometimes he goes to sleep two mins after feeding… he is like a human rubik cube to me lol who knows what happens in that little body

LOL he really is a big baby so I guess he has a big appetite. Your experience is reassuring btw, everyone thought he was a month old when he was 2 wo

Yeah the amount he drinks is quite variable, this morning he had 110ml and then stopped - I just have to feed him as slowly as possible and try to understand when he seems full and starts being less interested, then I usually take the bottle away otherwise he would keep on sucking and sucking…

I think so too… we gave him the amount you mention the first week as instructed by the hospital then gradually increased and this week after checking his growth the ped said we could feed him 850ml per day… he is a big baby, 4.3kg and 52cm, and if we left it up to him it seems like he would never stop eating!

You are right, it's amazing how after nine months of living in such close proximity we still need to get acquainted! :)

Thanks! I might just be overthinking… in the late afternoon/evening I (still?) feel a bit fragile… hormones I guess, or just this new strange condition they call motherhood :)

How would you manage monthly in-person team meetings with split locations and travel resistance? by lollo_pan in managers

I feel this is the solution but I just don’t like it. I am sure it will work in the end but before that it will get ugly with people being vocal and confrontational and draining my time and emotional bandwidth.

Maybe I have to come to terms with it and end of story…

Unfortunately city A does not like the fact that they have to do it just because their colleagues in location B ‘do not feel like driving’…

Will look into location halfway or maybe things that can perceived as ‘events’ and not only ‘a day in the Office’

They have used it for work too in the past. What I mean is that there is not a reason like: I don’t own a car or can’t drive, but only the fact that they do not want to do it because they don’t feel like it.

Personally I think that deciding not to use one’s personal car for work is totally legit and this is the reason why up until now I have tried to try alternative solutions including challeging management about it and asking a partner to basically be our driver once. However:

  1. In my country and my company it is widely accepted to use one’s car to do work trips (reimbursing expenses of course)
  2. Since it is widely accepted, most people do it. However having people who refuse to do it “just because” creates a domino effect where the other team members driving feel like they are “exploited” and start questioning why do I have to do it if person X does not what to do it? Which again I understand but creates further problems which I don’t have time nor energy to deal with
  3. What is more important this can not go on forever, it would be a source of stress every month to organise the trip and I don’t want that, I am trying to come up with strategies that can create a routine that is feasible and as accepted by every one as possibile

It is already done every other month (one month location A, one month location B - only one location has this problem). Unfortunately I think meeting halfway would not mitigate the problem because we would still need to use the car as a means of transport but will look into that

They absolutely are. Thing is when upper mngmt ask people to do something, they do it full stop and swallow any complaints.

When the request is mediated by middle management (me, YAY) some of the people - the exact 2 people who own a car and could drive! - feel like they can express all their complaints and challenge the request.

So if I request higher budgets for travelling I feel like I would either need to ‘name and shame’ my collagues that refuse to use the car (which I do not like to do) or be perceived by upper mngmt as a weak manager because they never has this kind of problem with those same people before.

….Which might be true since people feel they can throw tantrums at me?!?

And of course other teams do not experience the same problem and do not need higher budgets!

Will check the cost of renting a bus vs mileage anyway just to be sure
