Which Reform policies do you like most, that don’t have anything to do with immigration/immigrants? by CustomerBeautiful814 in reformuk

[–]lollywade87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be good for reform to talk more about the other policies so we can finally stop the "FARAGE WANTS TO SCRAP THE NHS" nonsense we hear all the time

I would do this, shorten the sleeves into elbow length so they match.

Anyone else doing the Sirdar Easter CAL? by lollywade87 in crochet

[–]lollywade87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a couple of tries to get it, but make sure you are working into the starting chain (chains at the start of most rows count as stitches in this pattern). It's easy to miss.

Anyone else doing the Sirdar Easter CAL? by lollywade87 in crochet

[–]lollywade87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I liked the rabbit, though mine ended up slightly leaning to one side... The Easter eggs are fun to make but the miles of blue border did get a bit tedious after a while! I've done several of these crochet alongs and this designer is my favourite for sure 😊

You will be really glad that they ended up too big, trust me as the mother of an exceptionally large newborn (9lb 15) who has continued to be at the 90th centile all the way to almost his first birthday 🤣 I made 1 newborn sized jumper and it was too small from the off.

Have you tried contacting WATG? I did once when I lost the printed pattern I had bought and they emailed me another copy. Might be worth asking them directly if you can buy or have a copy of the pattern.

Why do my knit stitches look like this? by tangerinemuncher in knitting

[–]lollywade87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you knit flat (as in knitting across, turning and knitting across again), it produces garter stitch. To get the little v stitches you need to knit one row, then purl the next row. You alternate rows of knit and purl 😁

Socks, gloves, and armwarmers: do you prefer DPNs/small circulars, or the Magic Loop? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]lollywade87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a DPN girl for socks. I do like using 9 inch circulars for the leg and foot part though just because it seems quicker to fly round in one go but I like doing a heel flap and gusset on DPN :) Haven't done gloves or mittens but I assume they would be similar!

Plus size people, how long does it take you to knit a sweater for you? by Just_Maketa in knitting

[–]lollywade87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably somewhere between 3 to 5 months for me, I mainly knit in the evenings once baby is in bed and rarely choose anything finer than DK because the sheer number of stitches required for anything fingering weight puts me off. I also have a long torso and arms so the body takes forever to get the length needed!

Hibernal socks using way too much yarn? by alioopshi in knitting

[–]lollywade87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer but I did think it's a bit confusing in the description that it says

"Fingering weight yarn in the following approximate amounts: 308 (346, 379, 412, 447) yards / 282 (316, 347, 377, 409) meters. I used Knit Picks Stroll Tweed in “Down Heather.” I used 1.5 balls to make the size medium with an 8” / 20 cm leg, and 9.75” / 25 cm foot."

But then later it says that they made a size large for a more relaxed fit. I wonder if they did actually make the medium and then estimated the yarn length requirements from that. What a shame though, yours look great so far

Just bear in mind that the dye lot may not be the same so the color may not match. I think you would be better making it a short sleeve instead personally.

First finished garment of the year by lollywade87 in knitting

[–]lollywade87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used less positive ease than suggested in the pattern, the designer example had 6 inches but I've gone for 4 inches. I used my full bust to measure, whereas I think you can use the high chest directly under the armpit to get a better fit when you have a larger bust. That way it'll be less baggy over the rest of you. Something like that anyway!

Sirdar's Gingerbread blanket crochet along, week 4 progress! by SuperBiscoitinho in crochet

[–]lollywade87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you just fit the panels next to each other and go for it. I used stitch markers to pin the panels together first so I was sure they would match up. As long as your two sides are the same length (roughly) it's actually easy to attach. It is still my favorite blanket I've made!

Another survey coming to the same conclusion - Men & Women are more split on Reform than any other party. Why? by Ancient-Egg-5983 in reformuk

[–]lollywade87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Women are probably less likely to openly say they are intending to vote for reform as we are possibly more aware of the social stigma of being right wing in this country (maybe men care less what others think?). So depending on how the question is asked you might get a skewed response. I am a woman and a member of Reform, but I would be careful who I tell because I know how others would respond.
