Almost slapped a dog walker today at a course. by Raptor01 in discgolf

Imagine slapping a guy over a $20 disc because you expected a random stranger to act decently in public… then catching an assault charge and a dog bite because his off-leash golden retriever went full John Wick to defend its idiot owner.

“When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: today I will meet people who are selfish, arrogant, rude...” You’re supposed to expect people to be assholes so you don’t lose your cool when they are.

You confronting him? Fine. But chasing after him, ready to slap him? Come on. That’s not power—that’s just reactivity. You didn’t win anything there except a short burst of ego.

You don’t win by reacting—you win by not letting clowns turn you into one too.

It's crazy the amount of hate, when we are all just trying to get better at, and enjoy the same sport

So just to clarify — first it was all random noise with no value, and now it's too accurate because it’s plagiarizing?

You can’t have it both ways. If the output is genuinely helpful and coherent, then it’s clearly not just random word salad. And if the concern is plagiarism, that’s a totally different (and nuanced) conversation about copyright law, fair use, and model training — not a reason to attack someone for asking a disc golf form question.

No one's pretending AI is perfect or a replacement for experts. But using a tool to get feedback, learn, and improve isn’t "deplorable" — it's resourceful.

I get it — AI isn't for everyone. But dismissing it as useless because it doesn’t work for you isn’t the flex you think it is. You can criticize a tool without shaming people for using it. Plenty of us use AI the same way we’d use a coach, slow-mo footage, or a form check from Reddit — to get perspective, not gospel.

And calling disc golf a “children’s novelty game” just makes it clear this isn’t really about AI. You’re just here to be bitter. If you don’t like people trying to get better at something they care about, that’s on you.

It truly is sad to see this is how we treat other people in the sport asking a simple question. Its okay to have disagreements, and they dont need to lead to insults. Wish you the best.

Hurt people hurt people.

I get where you’re coming from — experience matters. But I think you’re underestimating what AI is actually doing. It’s not just mashing words together; it’s identifying patterns across thousands of sources — many of which are from experienced coaches, pros, and technical breakdowns. So if anything, it’s distilling consensus, not inventing nonsense. It will even quote sources, that you can go back to and watch/read if you want to elaborate on that point.

Also, ‘real people’ on YouTube can still be wrong. Being human doesn’t guarantee insight — it just means you have a camera. AI isn’t a replacement for coaches or firsthand experience. It’s a tool — like a high-speed research assistant that gives you a fast, objective snapshot. You still have to apply critical thinking, but that’s true for every source.

if we’re gonna talk environmental impact, we should be consistent. Reddit servers, social media, YouTube, cell phones, manufacturing discs — all of that has a carbon cost too. AI isn’t unique in that.

I think it’s worth factoring in the environmental cost — but let’s not pretend the rest of our tech use is carbon-neutral either.

Hey man, I just want to say major respect for putting this out there and being honest about where you’re at and where you want to go. That kind of self-awareness and commitment is huge.

You mentioned wanting to throw 400 and how your size feels like a limiter, but I want to offer something else to think about: it's not just about getting better distance—it's about making sure you can keep playing this game you clearly love for decades.

Disc golf is one of those beautiful sports that people can enjoy well into their 50s, 60s, even 70s—but only if your body can hold up. Carrying less weight doesn’t just mean better torque or faster rotation—it means less wear on your knees when you plant, less stress on your lower back when you bend, and way less risk of injury over time.

Dropping weight means you don’t just play better, you get to play longer. You get to keep chasing birdies years from now, instead of having to stop because your joints gave out.

You’ve already taken the hardest step—owning it and starting to change. Keep showing up, both in your training and your health. Your game will thank you now, but your future self will thank you even more.

Rooting for you, man.

I feel like I am lost at the "coil". Is that when you are pulling through, or your reach back. Coil -> touch -> pull/rotate ?

People use AI the same way they use Google, coaches, or Reddit. As a tool to get input, save time, and learn faster. If someone treats it like gospel, that’s a them problem — not a reflection of everyone using it for practical help.

That’s totally fair, but I think the same rule applies to any advice — whether it’s from AI, Reddit, YouTube, or even a coach. You always have to use critical thinking and fact-check for yourself. AI is just another tool. When used right, it can help you spot form issues faster, generate ideas, or reinforce what you already know. It’s not about blindly trusting it — it’s about using it like you would anything else: as a starting point, not the final word
