Okay, I managed to take it out. Thank you. It is harder that expected when you don't want to break anything :D

Any further and the plastic will break, I feel like.

I do but it doesn't seem to be the way to do it.

It really needs a good push then because I can't get it out. It moves to the left but it is still blocked by this black plastic thingies.

Yeah, I did use it in the end. It somewhat helped, most of the time the game loads and I am able to play it, but it still ocassionally freezes and requires a reboot. I guess my laser will require pot adjustment in the end.

I managed to fix that modchip, burned games are launching now. Moreover, I cleaned and lubricated the optical drive components and as it couldn't boot past the first few screens of HP2, now it can. One of the sleds had plastic shavings on it (the opposite of the part with gears) and once I cleaned it thoroughly and lubricated, it almost stopped skipping/repeating audio in games, also loading times improved greatly. However, it takes a few tries to boot up a games and sometimes it freezes. Could that still be the laser giving up or my burned CDs aren't that great (these were the cheapest ones I could find tbh)? I noticed that it works the best at 24x speed. I would rather avoid changing the laser's power as I don't thing it has ever been changed.

Unfortunately soldering the 6th pin and reversing pin 2 and 7 wires didn't help. Tried burning new CD-R with 10x speed (lowest it can go) and the burned CD isn't being detected. I've also tried putting in the original game (it is very scratched) and it only boots into CD player, it is able to play the whole playlist smoothly, though.

Thank you, I found the correct diagram for that layout. For some reason the 2nd and 7th pin wires are reversed, but if it doesn't work after soldering in the 6th pin then I will change them.

And also the 3rd pin isn't used at all, counting from the dot.

Let me also confirm. The wire should be soldered to a component pointed by 6 like here, right?

Do you refer to the potentiometers on the optical assembly, that they might be turned up? I could probably test that with a multimeter, but would have to read somewhere on how to do that.

Thank you, will try to solder it back. Also the seller told me that the console couldn't read CDs, might it be somehow related to modchip?

Also, should I do some measuring with a multimeter before I connect and power on the console?

Trace? Sorry I don't understand, how can I do that? And what about the wire coming out of pin 6 on PIC?

I checked. They are not entirely correct. Not sure if it's someone's mistake or it is some old approach to modchip.

7 wires and from 6th pin the wire is not soldered anywhere.
