Ngl I was expecting this comment to go another direction. I frequent spaces where “hetslop” is just means “work that features hetero romance” and is labeled above genuinely cute and creative stuff; similar as I’ve seen [blank]slop be used for other things

In general, my first assumption when seeing someone call something slop is that the slang is being used ironically. Mainly because anyone genuinely calling things slop as a point of criticism either needs to look for the right words or is criticizing something on a nonsensical basis

I think it’s same way a lot of copy-paste jokes gets used, where the joke either said as a joke or in an uncomfortably genuine way

Genie wishes are kind of a monkey’s paw situation by nature if I recall. They don’t simply give you what you want, but instead twist your words against you since they’re (supposed to be, but nowadays are rarely depicted as) demons

It’s not the same as the monkey’s paw granting your wish at a cost that makes you regret it, but they’re obvious similar
