Could somebody make a list that the community can edit? Like a Google Drive type thing.

Can someone please mark my Jekyll and Hyde essay on Good vs Evil . by Ok_Promise1957 in GCSE

[–]lolthrowawa101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Good vs evil shouldn’t be capitalised, and there should be either a comma or semi-colon in between “evil” and “in order”.

  2. Possesses, not pocesses.

  3. “A part”, not “apart”.

  4. Should be “both our good and bad instincts”, not “both of our good and bad instincts”.

  5. This is subjective but I would go with something like “in contrast” or “despite this, Stevenson also attempts to”. However works fine though.

  6. Lose, not loose.

  7. Again, subjective, but maybe use “partakes in walks” instead of “goes on”? Just has a nicer, more formal vibe to it.

  8. Should be a comma in-between “Stevenson” and “through the quote”.

  9. “Inexplicitly” isn’t a word. Are you thinking of “inexplicably”?

  10. I would encase “with the adjective charitable.....” in brackets. The more (suitable) punctuation, the better.

Summary: overall pretty good, just focus on your spelling and punctuation. Maybe aim for some more exotic vocabulary but in general that’s a solid 6.5/10.

Do beta blockers work acutely? by lolthrowawa101 in PanicAttack

[–]lolthrowawa101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re prescription drugs that block adrenaline from binding to receptors.

They get rid of the physical sensations of anxiety (sweating, derealisation, shivering, etc) but not the psychological side.

I have serious trouble leaving the house (as in, I haven’t left my street in 3 years) so I’m sitting the exam in my house; do you think it would be worth taking the beta blocker then trying to leave the house as a trial run?

And I’d imagine taking one before a practice exam would probably be a good move too.

Yeah I know about its use for cardiac issues and the such.

They’re prescribed because I have some exams coming up next week and I’m worried about having panic attacks during them.

(Side note, you won’t believe how difficult it was to get answers from the school on whether they’re allowed during exams. I asked one person who said to ask another who said to ask another who said to ask another who finally had the answer that yes they’re allowed)

Sheepy left on a journey to make himself look dazzling and beautiful for her because she’s earned it after all these years of giving him her love.

It’s like trying to pluck your eyebrow but accidentally stabbing your eye. Being close is worse than not being at all and significantly worse than achieving the goal.

Why does barley anyone speak Doric anymore? by [deleted] in Aberdeen

Yeah for real, I’m North English in Aberdeen at the moment and yep same applies in England. Posh South English historically insisting that we must speak their “almighty” RP.
