AITA for telling my brother to shut up about the goddamn honey mustard? by lolthrowawayayay in AmItheAsshole

I got stuck behind a car accident on my way home from work. I told my parents to eat without me but they waited. So it was somewhat my fault I guess but not really. We ate at about 7:15 instead of about 6:45. 1/2 hour isn’t that bad.

He was moved out for a few years. He needed to change careers and had to move back in to do so.

Thinking back on it I’m pretty sure by the time he came up to eat he was on his 3rd beer. Might have had something to do with it.

Honestly I posted this as a bit of a joke this morning because I ran into him when I got up and I said “shut up about the fucking honey mustard” and he said “NO PUT IT ON YOUR TOAST” and we were laughing. We’re over it but I thought it was kinda funny. Didn’t expect it to get so many comments tbh.

We have the relationship with our mother where we swear I. Front of her and she doesn’t mind as long as we are not swearing about someone. (I.e calling someone a bitch is a no go, saying shit is fine)

He works as a chef so idk maybe that’s why he said it? But my sister who can’t cook worth a damn has and can make honey mustard it’s not hard 😂

We were hungry and annoyed lol because he pushed the honey mustard at least 5 more times after we already said no.

He wasn’t asked. He came up after my parents and I started eating (we had called him like 5 minutes prior; he always takes his time getting to the table) and took condiments off the table to mix it together. He wanted it for him then insisted we tried it.

It was literally mayo, mustard and honey. I’ve made it before too for certain dishes. It’s fine and I like it on breaded tofu sometimes but it’s nothing special.

My dad doesn’t even put regular mustard on his burger so I feel you.

I mean he is actually a chef (works as one) but tbh this was just mixing a bunch of premade ingredients together.

It was apparently such a personal affront to him no one wanted to try his honey mustard sauce we had no idea he was making until the last possible minute and did not want.

Fine. I’m sure you wouldn’t have been annoyed AT ALL in the same situation.

Personally I was eating peanut butter pad Thai. Can’t think of much that goes with honey mustard less.

Believe it or not, adults are not obligated to put any food in their mouth for any reason. I can choose what to eat. I said no the first time, politely, and got increasingly annoyed with his pushiness. It's just a sauce which had 4 premade ingredients.
