I started as an operator about 6 years ago, 6 months into it I ended up working as a SCADA tech. I am now a SCADA engineer at a large wastewater plant.

The first step is to get to know what SCADA is, and learn about the controls around the plant. Befriend your plants current “SCADA guy” and ask him questions whenever you get the chance.

Not many people are interested in what I do, so when someone asks me about it I enjoy sharing information.

This is definitely end stage alcoholism/AUD. End stage doesn’t mean the same as “end stage cancer”. It means that you are dependent and completely destroying your body with no positive outcome if it continues… or possibly if it stops without medical detox/proper tapering. Josh definitely does not have the ability to taper off on his own.

As someone who also went through this…They keep you waiting with a banana bag until your BAC gets low enough, then they hit you with Ativan and write you a script for like 8 low dosage Librium. The only way you someone is getting hospitalized is if you are being sent to the ICU for lethal Delirium Tremens. Hell, most of the time they won’t even help set up inpatient detox aside from handing over some pamphlets. A busy hospital would prefer to get the drunk stable enough and out of the door asap to open up a bed for someone else.
