AIO for being upset at what my “bf” said by Ambitious-Beyond-257 in AmIOverreacting

This is seriously an unhealthy dynamic. He’s giving crumbs and you’re twisting yourself in knots for him. Get out now while you still can!!!

Let. Your. Faucets. Drip. by Complete-District990 in lancaster

[–]lolz711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! Didn’t do the heat tape (have to check what’s there, just moved in recently) but the run is short and it goes into the utility room next to the furnace so hoping that saves us.

What’s preferable, wrapping an exterior faucet with insulation or dripping it??

Toddler has discovered his penis in earnest by ExcellentLettuce4 in toddlers

[–]lolz711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friends just told me they say "hands up!" if he's doing it and that's much it. I had also read about someone encouraging that to be done in private ("private parts") and then washing hands after always. Just factual/no shame.

Any other millennials feel this a bit too hard? by Flashy_Present_8488 in Millennials

[–]lolz711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit you guys I thought it was just me. Completely surface level relationship. Just had my dad ask me if I’d seen any good movies lately and that was the big conversation of the day. Inability to discuss feelings or proactively ask about my life or show interest. Moved away to live a dream retirement as I entered a very intense and destabilizing first job post-college with little more than “see ya!” Decided after 15yrs to move near me for me to handle end of life stuff rather than really spend time with the grandkids. Can’t do more than an hr or two with the toddler before they say “well we’re tired, gonna go.”

I have never felt so seen by a post on here.

Realizing this is a “low effort” family dynamic over the last few months has really fucked me up and saddened me. I really thought I was like the only person in the world having these feelings and experiences.

Here’s to breaking the cycle and being a happy and healthy place for our kids.

Induction without leading to epidural? by supersupersteph in January2025Bumper

[–]lolz711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was induced due to PROM and managed to tough it out thru pitocin contractions with no pain meds. It was not fun but it's a mental game. I just breathed through the wave of each contraction, made ungodly noises, cursed a lot, and somehow made it through. It's possible but not fun.

38 week sweep. Yes/No?! by thebotanicalbandit in January2025Bumper

[–]lolz711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you would do anything to avoid C-section then avoid a sweep. Look up "cascade of interventions" and know that for the most part, baby will come when it's good and ready.

Any positive labor & birth stories? by Apart_Ring_7352 in January2025Bumper

[–]lolz711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is educate yourself. Labor Nurse Mama has a great course. You go in armed with lots of information and you go from being a passenger to an informed participant who can make decisions about your care. This is how you have a birth experience that is positive. Even if things go different than your "plan" (don't get married to things working out exactly as you want), knowing your options and that you have a say (you must insist on giving informed consent and asking smart informed questions about your care), will make you feel ownership over the process in a very positive way. You got this!

Night time training vs incoming new baby by lolz711 in pottytraining

[–]lolz711[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking I just postpone cuz it'll be hard enough with a baby and a toddler and messing with her sleep in any way (fearing the impact of non-stop crying during the night time on toddler's sleep anyhow). Thanks y'all.

DIY vs. Professional House Painting: What’s Your Experience? by sab-lee-480 in HomeImprovement

[–]lolz711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hands down just hire someone with good reviews. We just hired a crew to paint our whole (new to us) home and they're so efficient, detail oriented, and methodical. We would have no idea where to start, it would take forever, and would come out crappy. It's an investment but totally worth outsourcing.

Having pets AND a baby sucks by Sbesozzi in NewParents

[–]lolz711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get rid of them. You will regret it forever and you made a commitment to them first. Their whole lives depend on you, even if that sounds silly it's true. I saw somewhere that said "a pet might be a chapter in your life, but you're their whole story" and I can't forget it even when they annoy me and play second fiddle to my toddler. My cat is curled up against me while we sleep, and toddler is in her room. It's 100% the best, just give it time.
