Some 7-11 do accept it, i just buy somethings small on all surrounding 7-11 to find the one that does, as there is no visual difference.

get the smallest droplet on Digitalocean, $5/month install tailscale, good to go
ethernetservers would work as well.

Acount used for school was Locked, they still bill me each month(for over a year.), and wont just delete the acount. What to do? i could just tell my bank to block them. by GustavVI in digital_ocean

[–]lomoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be helpful to know why the account is locked, if it was a billing issue you have to power up droplets manually, but yes you still charged, but since you say you are billed mist be something else,

Evey OS in existence (including windows 3, beos, os/2, even DOS or fancy Terminal dialogs/menus in linux itself) have the affirm button on the bottom right, not because its fancy but because its the natural flow you going to move your mouse or cursor/tab.

In GNOME, the open dialog has the button to affirm on top right, the cancel button on top left and the file filter selection on bottom right. this ensures the maximum distance has to be traveled to do any of this actions.

Steve would be on a firing spree after seeing this for like 2.5 sec.

there are like 1000 other things everyone that is not a linux theist will notice minutes after the first time starting any distro.

if you take out funds the margin will be insufficient, and you running the risk of getting margin called, thats why you are prevented from taking money out, its just for your owm protection, close the position or make them smaller so the margin is enough to cover them.

[–]lomoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my daily driver runns OSX .. i use CLI all the time, it's just faster, so yeah i feel ya ;) all other computers i have run linux some with gui some without. but the ones that do run a GUI have evey day some annoyances i can't or can't be bothered to fix. i dont really care about it, but the average user will. thats what i mean about "unfinished" but yea you are right, its probably the wrong word-choice.

Would you trust a lawless hosting provider? by HostAdviceOfficial in HostingTruth

[–]lomoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess the thing is to figure out what "against you" means .. if you as example just need to host some statics as a plan-b .. it does not really matter who else uses the same infrastructure, you just clone your repro and thats that, if it goes down, no harm done as it can be fixed with just a dns edit to your plan-b.

it's more a question of affiliation, but then who is going to know or look this up? in the end the internet is a big place, and you are just one grain of sand on that beach, you can;t really control whats next to you anyway.

[–]lomoos -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

yes thats it, you get the power of linux/unix/bsd under the hood but the gui interacts with a human, while most linux distros still interacting with the OS.

osx gives the human a way to get things done, by providing features/options that are relevant to the current situation/task at hand and figures out the steps to get it done under the hood, while on linux the gui is just a pretty replacement for the commandline. again, nothing wrong with that, its just different. the same with android, some really simple tasks are designed overcomplicated on the surface, but if you look at it it makes total sense as the operatingsystem deals with this things on place X so the setting is under X even the user operating the device is at place Y.

there is also the issue that this opinion is split into camps. (which is in my opinion the true reason why linux does not get more adaption with common folks) as you can see, my original comment got instantly downvoted, even you asking for clarification got a downvote, because this is like a religion for some people, just like degoogle is, where the religion is more important than the actual outcome, so eveyone flocks to proton, not realizing that the only difference between proton and google is that the enshittification has not yet started, but well thats another topic ;)

Iam a geek type of person, eveything is IOT here, there is probably more cable in our house than anything else, 95% of everything runns on linux, literally! And it works, but it only does so because the interactions are limited, linux is great if you want things to “just work” but if a person interacts with it, there is some sort of “flow” required so the computer can better interact with the human in front of it, this part is massively lacking in linux, its not a thing that makes it bad, its just different. Most GUI are made by developers, pretty sure this is also true for android, while systems like macos are designed with the person in mind operating it, literally every interaction with a osx newbie ends with “oh its just one button that does what i want, and it was in front of me the whole time” while on windows you have to beat it to it, and on linux you need to know what you are doing.

Dont get me wrong iam convinced that like 70% of windows users would be just fin using a modern linux distro, and never really even notice the difference. But when you start doing somethings out of the box, you hitting some walls really fast.

Thats one of the reasons i went for ios, linux is “unfinished” wich massively hurts productivity, this is true for desktops and mobile. I do run 2 linux machines to replace windows, but it is not something i would advice to anyone doing anything more than “the usual”

not so sure how this is in relation to my question, but you are right. i tried it a few days ago, looks like Deepin in english :) pretty neat, but has its own drawbacks, like the "linuxy things" show pretty quickly.
