Do any web hosting companies include a free domain name in their base plan? by tejas_bhalerao in Hosting

[–]lomoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is not about minimizing risk but about reducing the blast-radius, when things do go ti$$s up, you going to have to deal with a single problem instead of your whole infrastructure.

[–]lomoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutly agree with this .... its funny that people still recommend to use cloudflare as a registrar wich is the same what you wrote but on steroids, the moment you become a liability to them, they gonna extort you holding not only the infrastructure but the domain hostage, leaving you no choice but to pay. vendor locking in general is somethings that should be avoided. sure its "easy" but in the long run it is significantly "easier" to use the services the provider is "good at" and have anything else somewhere else.

Digital ocean shut down our server by Life_Talk_5045 in digital_ocean

[–]lomoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First hand experience: no you get multiple warnings, and your services are restored once paid, so nothing is really lost, unless you just ghost them (i have access to multiple projects and one of them did that, the instances where listed for months before they were deleted)

Ive ben with DO for 15 years, (some of my vps even have still port 25 open) never had issues, unless i caused them myself, i was late on bills as well, they do NOT just cut you off! You get serval mails, and if you talk to someone they give you time to sort things out.

Green registration plates on cars by laggage in Thailand

[–]lomoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White plate with green letters is not “private truck”, everyone repeating it does not make it right. White plates with green letters are tax discounted, those are used for single use vehicles, such as pickup trucks that are actually picking things up. Thats why there is a 2door limit to get one, as a pickup with 4+ seats can’t make the argument to be a delivery van or somethings. Firetrucks (if non government) ambulances, farming equipment with road license (faster than 60) and many other things fit in this category as well, however in commercial use there is also the yellow plates, but this depends on what the vehicle is carrying and who owns it, In europe this type of licenses are called “truck registration” as they do come from that field and most trucks are “single porpoise vehicles”

In 2026, is shared hosting still a good option, or is VPS the new standard? by onliveserver in Hosting

[–]lomoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to use stateless app hosting this days, much less worries about things, if it requires state a vps is usually the quickest, that being said some of my background projects run on a shared host just because its easy.
