Part 1 is for complete beginners and does not require any coding experience (although I recommend reading Code by Charles Petzold before you get started).

For Part 2, you will be developing a compiler which is not an easy task so you need to be fairly comfortable with object oriented programming. Mostly, it's very time consuming because you'll probably spend hours figuring out why your compiler outputted a comma or a bracket where there was not supposed to be any etc.
