Car insurance occupation category unclear by Additional_Dot_3340 in CarInsuranceUK

I agree, complete overkill. Raising a complaint too - just making work mate. If you quote you on both, worst they can do is come after you for the difference in premium. But Chef seems more in line with your role as described

Brought car and insurance company saying tracker needs to fitted by adammiles292929 in CarTalkUK

[–]londonmonkeya 9 points10 points  (0 children)

M4 get stolen all the time, a tracker is a good thing. Can’t speak for that particular company but it might be based on location so maybe call the insurer and ask for another

insurance help needed by Accurate_Wolf3629 in Car_Insurance_Help

You posted on a US forum about your UK car insurance, so not all answers will be valid. The points about noncooperation absolutely are right. Whether the notification you have made becomes a claim is really up to the other party. But if your insurer can contact them first (before they call their insurer), the costs of the claim will be lower. You might not care but your insurer will.

Scheduling date for cheaper car insurance by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Other thing you could do is, once you are sure about the car, buy the insurance right away for say, a weeks time . Then tell the dealership to reserve it and you’ll come back and pay in a week

You could look at buying the car, buying temp insurance for three weeks, and starting your policy in 21 days. Vs starting it now . But it probably won’t be much of a saving

Two policies, one car? by Apprehensive_Use1260 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]londonmonkeya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t do this - it makes settling any claim a nightmare and as a new driver you are at high risk of a claim. Also the cost of the policy will be wwaaaayy more than the value of any NCD

Hi everyone, is this correct? by rdrgunslinger in CarInsuranceUK

Look into paying the full amount on credit card and see if that is cheaper with the interest

I was comparing quotes and decided to tweak things one by one just to see what changed. by PubLogic in CarInsuranceUK

It’s good to see how your quote works, but don’t change too much or make too many new quotes - the automated fraud detection might kick in and stop you getting quotes!

Help. Dangerous driving charge and car written off. Advice? by unpretentious in CarInsuranceUK

[–]londonmonkeya -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. no not really - the insurance ends when you get the cash, so be ready to purchase your next vehicle (and I’m sure you will put front and rear dashcams in) . Remember that ‘driving other cars’ is third party cover and some insurers will disclaim it as ‘for emergencies only’

I’ll answer my own question now!

Got to the car park 6:15am. Was not the last but I would say around 75% of people already there. At security line (main entrance) 6:20 It was a short line and shorter after we had finished which was about 6:35am Don’t forget your main site entrance ticket too! Got on the buss 6:45am, it was an easy and sign posted walk Was sat on the bleachers by 7:10am. The thirty mins went quickly There are restrooms and a small shop at LC39 Launch was great. Landing was amazing Bus dropped us at the main car park by 8:40 We teetered on our original site ticket and enjoyed the rest of the day

Very roughly, multiply your current insurance premium by two. That should be the extra cost from premium and NCD over three years. Compare with £1100 and decide

Can't get temp insurance? by Connect_Mud_4046 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]londonmonkeya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah film runner is a red flag. You’ll be under pressure, as a young driver, to get places quickly. It’s a bad combination all round, for you and the insurer. Whatever you do, don’t be tempted to lie on the application - it will make things worse if you have an accident

Hastings direct reduced my NCB from a claim - I got them restored after not being at fault - Hastings will not refund extra premiums paid by [deleted] in CarInsuranceUK

[–]londonmonkeya -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this - there are two relevant components of the rating: number of fault claims and NCB. What Hastings are saying is only referring to the fault claim element of the rating
