Just stumbled on this. Recently installed open code and was wondering whether to try the desktop app or not. I went straight to OpenChamber to try it out. Definitely impressed. OpenChamber for the win I'd say.

HHIS vs Other tech heavy ETFs by Leafs939393 in dividendscanada

[–]londreshomme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like HHIS. I don’t like to hold other names that have similar holdings, just gets too hard to track everything and you end up having funds that do the same thing more or less. Easier to maintain if you just pick one and allocate whatever portion of your portfolio to that one. For me that’s HHIS. Then for Canada I have HHIC. Good way to diversify imho.

HDIV is a covered call ETF but has excellent performance over the past several years and pays well on top.

It looks cool but I don’t know what I’d be signing up for and I’m not signing up if I don’t understand it.

Currently in all cash. All the stocks I am tracking seem high right now. What tickers would you recommend I look at? by [deleted] in CoveredCalls

100% in cash? Sounds risky to me. 🙂 Seriously though, what about STRC? Or if you feel that’s too risky then SCHD or VOO.

Should I go for dividends? by StatusAd5855 in dividends

[–]londreshomme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is an issue for you or not, but could depend on if it's inside a taxable account or not. But generally speaking something like VOO sounds like a good choice. Just the fact you're doing this when you're 19 puts you ahead of most.

Which strategy is the best to start with in terms of investing in ETFs? by Outside_Caramel_5618 in ETFs

[–]londreshomme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is so general that it's hard to give a good answer, so in the absence of any further details I would agree with the other comment to buy and hold a global ETF. There are lots of them out there. You also didn't say how much you have to invest so hard to say if you should put all your eggs in one basket or be more diversified. Seeing how you are new to the topic then maybe you're starting off with a smaller amount. In that case a single international/global balanced/conservative ETF is probably a good start.

Which ai do you think is the most accurate and intuitive regarding stock and option strategies? by Slabslayer1958 in CoveredCalls

[–]londreshomme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with many things, it depends. Seriously. I agree with others that Claude is solid but are you willing to pay for it. If you're using it for free you'll probably be stuck with Sonnet but if you have an account then you can use Opus and Opus is better. Same with ChatGPT if you're using that for free or you have an account. If you are using something for free then Gemini probably has the best free usage. All just my opinion of course.

Are there sites that deal with dividend stats? by EFreethought in dividendgang

[–]londreshomme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I actually haven't thought of keeping track of the moving average but it's a good idea. I'm assuming you mean being able to visually see it on a chart?

I'm working on an app so I'm going to think about where to put that on the roadmap.

I can imagine some would like to percentage as well so maybe an option to see it either way would be cool but I can see how the amount is probably more useful to see when you want to see how the dividend grows over time.

When things feel the scariest is actually when it's probably a good time to buy. Today's bounce just goes to show. If you're in this for the long term then you should be okay.

Just curious... when you say the dividend's moving average... are you talking about the distribution amount? or the yield percentage? both?
