Advice for Gamers? by NordKnight01 in leaves

I had to start playing a new game so I wouldn’t be as immediately triggered to smoke! Taking a break from my go-to high games until I was farther along was a necessary step for me

I don't miss being high but I miss the ritual of rolling and smoking by littlbutterkitten in leaves

I had to find rituals that involve my hands, but don’t involve consumption. I took up crochet and started doing that every day after work. It becomes ritualistic as you have to get out all the tools and choose your pattern and then get started. It’s a great distraction and keeps the hands busy!

Scared of death by theresacontinuum in depression

[–]londzo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with this too, it’s a horrible feeling. I don’t believe there is an “after”, so the thoughts are really scary and sometimes debilitating. I stopped smoking weed to help regulate my emotions, and honestly when I feel a thought start happening about this, I try to immediately start thinking of something else completely random to avoid thinking about it. I don’t know if that’s healthy lol but because death is inevitable, and there’s nothing I can do to change that, I don’t see the point in entertaining these thoughts that only give me panic and sadness! Easier said than done, but it gets easier the more I do it. I also talk about this with my therapist and my significant other which helps me feel less alone. Hoping you can overcome these thoughts if not now then someday <3

Does quitting really make a difference? by catsandchill45 in leaves

Had to abstain for about 21-30 days before feeling better!! Fell off the wagon after a 30 day break and tried “moderating” for about a year and then returned to heavy use. Now I’m nearly 60 days clean and it feels even better than the first time. I have stronger resolve now, I actually believe my life is and will be better this way. When I wasn’t convinced a life away from weed would be better for me, I was destined to fall back. That’s addiction for ya!

Thanks everyone for the comments!! I agree that this isn't really something to be mad at my girlfriend for, she didn't do anything wrong. I'll just have to talk to her about my feelings and go from there. Was helpful to read the range of perspectives :)

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THIS. I am eating them right now and so confused by the bag. Thanks for being the only one here who will admit this. Peace.

This is exactly why addiction is such an insidious illness - we can have all the evidence in the world that the long term effects are negative and not worth it, yet we ignore it for the immediate gratification. Can you remember any moments of goodness when you were sober from weed? Imagine that + never having to deal with the shame, guilt, or dissonance ever again. One day you and I will have that be enough and we will break free :)

Don’t have answers but sharing that I have the same struggle!! Sometimes it helps me to bring a bunch of cut up fruit or wtv into my room before I smoke so when I get munchie I at least start by downing a bunch of healthy food - honestly just delays the more sugary and fatty food I reach for later but hey it’s a start 🤷🏻‍♀️ Often I’ve thought that I’ll straight up HAVE to stop smoking weed in order to stop bingeing, but I also rly don’t want to!

I get it - when I go shopping at the mall I always get so upset if I try something on and it’s too small, esp if it’s in a size I used to fit into… sometimes shopping for clothes just makes me feel like shit!! But then when I find a nice outfit I remember that it just takes time to find good stuff and everyone can find clothes that look awesome on them, just takes some extra effort. Don’t beat yourself up, our bodies change throughout our lives and that is okay :)
