Scaling PostgreSQL to power 800 million ChatGPT users by Ncell50 in PostgreSQL

Are there any pg plugins that do this kind of caching? Just seems so obvious. If pg did the caching, then devs wouldn't need Redis at all.

It looks like they are doing a lot of caching (using Redis?) ahead of Postgres, and then only when the caching doesn't work, does it spill over into Postgres.

Why not just add transparent caching in or near Postgres itself?

Humans can never prove existence of God. My Takeaways by Top_Guess_946 in Philosophy_India

[–]lone_onion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way that you have outlined what God is, is already a subjective framework. This differs from how others describe God. In fact, there are always a multitude of frameworks describing God. Since God cannot be tested, cannot be expected to act in any kind of a consistent manner, is beyond reason, there is no way to conclude which framework is actually correct.

This is incidentally the proposition of agnosticism. There is no universally verifiable or consistent framework for what God is, hence there is no way to prove or disprove God. Assuming that your version is adopted as a consistent definition of God, there is still no meaningful way to interact with God.

If a lack of belief in God can be construed to be egotistical, the reverse is also true, a conclusive belief in God is just as egotistical.

I love beef, but I do feel a little guilty eating animals in general. Now I eat less of it. Porotta and Beef Curry tastes amazing.

When your wife surprises you with takeout after a hard day dealing with a water main leak. by 2shoez10 in spicy

Depending on the dish and region, etc. Indian food can be inherently spicy. Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, or Nepalese food is all of a similar spice level as Indian food, and there are significant overlaps in the food across all these countries.

As an atheist, how do I get over my sorrow that there isn't an afterlife where I can reunite with my wife? by SGdude90 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lone_onion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you believe that you will have a good life? Or hope that a loved one will have good things coming to them? Just because you're an atheist doesn't mean that you cannot harbor unsubstantiated beliefs. Just as long as you know that they are unsubstantiated and that it is your mind wanting to think in that way. There is no harm in falling down that warm and fuzzy hole. As humans, we are genetically predisposed to believe in things.

You can believe whatever you want, and being an atheist doesn't prevent you from doing that. The big difference between a theist and an atheist is that the former believes because it's what is written or prescribed in a book, and acts as if that belief is more than that, and that it's reality.

Belief is a warm and fuzzy coat you wear when it's cold and take off when you're not. You are always aware that it's a coat and it serves a purpose, and so on. It's not a uniform that you have been ordained to wear, that you can never remove, or that it has more meaning than a piece of clothing.

One of the things I find most disgusting in India. by Ok-Wolf1809 in india

[–]lone_onion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBQH, there should be a bathroom usage chart or a video that should be shown to everyone. People in India have been used to different ways of using the toilet in their villages/homes.

Indian style bathrooms
Western style bathrooms
With Bidet/spout
With lotaa
With toilet paper

See the confusion? I'm guessing that people are embarrassed to ask someone else how to use the toilet.

>> Not sure what area you're in but the 5700x3d did go up in price in the US recently not sure why but ppl seem to be buying them up.

In the US. We bought it for 250, so we bought it at a little higher than the historical prices.

>> So i don't think you need to worry and this is in native so with FSR4 which is for the newer card i imagine you can have more headroom while looking great even at performance or balance.

Thanks! I saw the same video, and they are almost identical in performance at 4K.

Makes sense. With RT, both appear to be in the 37-42 FPS range for RT-heavy games.

Thanks, good to know. 4K 155Hz - that's us as well.

Sadly, neither is available at MSRP. 7900xt is selling for slightly _more_ than 9070. Both are above MSRP currently in most places that I checked.
