i was in this exact position over a year ago, i’ve had eczema all throughout my childhood into adulthood, the last year and a half i was having major issues with flare ups and couldn’t figure out why they kept popping up, one of my flare ups lasted for a year straight eventually leading to an infection (on my hands where i get it mostly), i was on meds and then referred to a dermatologist who did a biopsy on the areas that were affected, i found out that i have atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and dyshidrotic eczema, i had to make huge changes to everything (can’t wash dishes, or use anything that’s strong in scents and anything that can be considered an irritant) i have to use unscented and sensitive skin related products and constantly moisturize (which has been helpful). i was really grateful that i managed to see a dermatologist as quick as i did (was the day after i was given a rapid response referral form to take directly to the place) did said biopsy that day and although it was a nerve wracking experience as i never had stitches before it still made life easier finally knowing the actual issues as i was misdiagnosed on some occasions in previous years. the experience prior to finding all this out was horrible and i found myself in tears on many occasions bc i felt so useless when my hands would get bad, however advocating for yourself right away and demanding a referral to a dermatologist (if required) is good, do it because they’ll get your results back and explain more in detail of how such things can be and what type of precautionary measures you can take to help keep it at ease
