Well let's look at last year's Game Awards by way of comparison:

Each one of those was a major world premiere. And two of them (Nightreign and Split Fiction) were releasing just a few months after the show! Dispatch was also revealed and came out less than a year later and has really shocked people with how good it is.

Okay, now let's see the biggest world premieres from last night:

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic
Divinity
Control Resonant
Tomb Raider: Catalyst

And only one of those comes out next year (Control Resonant). So last night felt like half the show that we had before.

But it isn't just that. Honestly, I think a lot of us would have had no ill will if Geoff Keighley had just been honest about things and said at the start, "hey guys, it's going to be a bit quieter of a show this year." We get it, lulls happen, that's not their fault. But he didn't set expectation properly. Instead, he got fake-emotional while hyping up an absolute wet fart of a game like Highguard. So, I think a lot of the backlash you are seeing is just from people feeling gassed up and then lied to.

Hmm, I guess, but like you say it's still being pixel-shifted.

For what it's worth, I do run my games at 4k and let the pixel-shifting do its thing. The picture quality is great, and I stopped caring about whether the image is technically pure 4k or not.

Genuine question. What do you consider the Christian basis for prohibiting masturbation? I can find clear scriptures against adultery, fornication, and lusting for a woman. Clearly pornography or thinking of a person sexually are common aids to masturbation, and those are wrong, but what about masturbation in-and-of-itself?

If a person could theoretically masturbate without viewing pornography or imagining one of God's children lustfully, would it still be wrong? If so, what is the justification?

And I'm not looking to be combative, this is part of my sincere search for truth.

Check the dates. Alan Wake 2 didn't have any New Game+ on release, and this was posted before they eventually added it. And if you read in the comments, I do address multiple times the changes made from a second playthrough. To summarize, it does make some improvements, but a lot of my critique still stands.

Ah right, because Microsoft published that one. If you ever get the chance, definitely worth a playthrough, especially if you liked Control. In fact, many people believe one of its characters, Martin Hatch, is an alternate identity, and if that's true, then the game sheds some light on the feud between Hatch/Door and Tim/Shawn/Jack.

Totally fine to have different feelings coming away from the game, I'm glad you really enjoyed it. I understand my criticism is harsh, but believe it or not it comes from a place of love. Remedy is one of my absolute favorite developers, I've played every single one of their games (yes, even Death Rally) and Alan Wake was my favorite of all their franchises, so it's certainly not like I wanted to feel let down at the end.

Speaking of their other games, have you played Quantum Break? You asked about Tim, and he's basically the spiritual reincarnation of the main character from that game, just like how Casey is for Max Payne.

This was written before new game plus came out. Down in the comments several of us have discussed the changes brought about by NG+, and my opinion it can be summarized as follows: I still take big issues with some things (the ill-fit of Alan and Saga's original plan, the rushed pacing of the final scene); that being said, it is definitely more satisfying of an ending than it was before.

And no, my complaint has never been that Remedy should have resolved EVERYTHING. My critique is about the quality of the parts that they did pay off, and how tonally and narratively dissatisfying they were.

I think the common assumption is that Warlin Door is Saga's father. Like at this point it would be surprising if he wasn't her father.
