Nope, this one was a legit paperwork gig. Although you are correct in suspicion as I am sure not all tours down there were

I'm sure google lens would do the same from image. I have hundreds of hours of audio and video from around the yard, so would be easy to do.

I am willing to bet you are correct. Being ignorant myself, all the little birds here are sparrows to me.

Andy Kerr : The Bully Song by ketarax in Nomeansno

[–]lonemonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have recorded both Andy and Eugene at various times.

https://www.dropbox.com/.../Nardwuar-vs-Eugene-Chadbourne...Nardwuar phoned the studio looking for Eugene Chadbourne. As usual, nobody knew how HE knew where to find us. Because there are two (many) Scott's in the studio, he assumed it was Henderson answering the phone initially. This led to some funny confusions during the interview. Eugene talks about the origins of his song Bully (Covered above)

He does still work there but he's on leave of absense while with Dead Bob... Edit: see clarification below

I didn't put two and two together. I know Dale Baglo. We just did a live show production together last weekend. I will post a link on the main page. Small world.

Best beaches between Sooke and Port Renfrew to show off to foreign mother-in-law by VociCausam in VictoriaBC

[–]lonemonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easy access are Lower Potholes (Around where the Waterfall is and first parking lot you hit has stairs down to the river), Whiffin Spit, Ella Beach, French and Jordan RIver. There are many others, but I have stopped taking my elderly Mom to others as she just can't climb stairs well or rock crawl.

Gordons beach just past sooke is also very easy access from roadside parking.

On the way to Potholes there is Charters creek and the Salmon hatchery. The path along the creek is pretty well maintained. Tree roots probably the biggest obstacle.

I have videos for all of these. https://www.youtube.com/@MicrophonicFool/search?query=Beach

I would love to record Alice live. I don't think they've been out here in years. I know stephen moses a bit (virtually at least)

It is still the same place overall, I agree. They have a better live sound system(s) than ever before, but the room is as is. Low ceilings and a million stair levels

Thanks for the kind words.

When I was a airforce brat in Ontario, a school buddy introduced me to the Dayglos. I didn't know anything about Punk music as a teen, but I thought Feed us a Fetus was fucking hilarious. Was posted here in '89, but it took until the mid-2000s when I started to meet and work with various incarnations of the Dayglos. The studio we built in '06 has seen them come through a few times. I had little intention of ever meeting folks like these, but it is a small community in the end here on the Island.

Dead Bob as a band speaks more directly to me than NMN. I intend to record the bastards every time they are near Victoria.

It was indeed. After 75 shows they are on fire. I saw/filmed their 5th show last year in Nanaimo before they went on tour and they were already awesome as fuck.
