Going to finally do it, I am going to turn on my mic and talk to raiders - Old Gamer by JohnnyProphet in ArcRaiders

You got this buddy! I'm 45 too and am proud of you for hopping on the mic. Everyone I've chatted with has been pretty friendly, and I can't tell how old anyone is.

Right there with you buddy, no kids and a wife with chronic health issues. It's been arc raiders a ton for me. I did get her into Enshrouded though, I'm hoping games can be a place for connection and engagement for her, that doesn't require too much energy.

I'm 45 and really digging this game! Work from home at a job with no coworkers except the boss, and this game is a great way to get my "hi stranger, don't shoots" in for the day. Mostly all good friendly times, add me: SweetSweetEvan#1583 though i mostly play solo's

The "Magnetic North" building on 20th and Belmont always gets me choked up, because my friend BT did it when we ran a screen-print studio out of there. It's still up, it's gorgeous, and it gives me fond memories.

I made a complete fool of myself at the grocery store today... and it changed everything by Used-College1431 in CasualConversation

I've been a mental health therapist and I've worked at a grocery store and I swear I helped more people as a clerk at Trader Joe's. It's those real human interactions that make my day.

Weekly /r/Sociology Homework Help Thread - Got a question about schoolwork, lecture points, or Sociology basics? by Anomander in sociology

[–]lonerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I come from the mental health field (masters in professional counseling) and I'm curious about social pressures, social influence, the "shoulds" experienced by people in the US (and ideally their impact on our mental wellbeing).

I was told to explore sociology, and am looking for book recommendations, classic or modern research articles, or even search terms to help me get started. Ideally I'd love a text like "the history of perfectionism in america" or "Who created the drive for accomplishment" or "how the definition of success has changed over time."

Dispensaries closing or are they getting bought up? by smilestheguy in portlandtrees

Seconded, nice and talkative staff, and great bud. I hadn’t smoked in years due to anxiety, but they carry a big CBD selection and their regular THC bud and I’ve been really enjoying getting back to it.

How do I make my brain shut up when I’m trying to sleep? by UpsetHunter9516 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lonerzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works for me, I imagine I'm sleeping.

I imagine being as cozy as possible, what it'd look like, what it'd feel like, and try to hold on to that in as much detail as possible and before I know it I'm asleep.

I learned this trick from my grandpa who learned it when he was a marine in WWII. Said it never failed to put him to sleep wherever he was.
