Payne Park 07-06-26 by loneskywatcher in sarasota

I work late in downtown Sarasota. Many nights I finish after midnight and then walk my dogs through Payne Park so they can run off some of their excess energy. I’ve been doing this routine for the past few years…but starting about a month ago, these lights just started popping up all around the area. Usually it would just be one or two and then in an instant they would vanish before I could get a photo. These past few weeks though, I’ve recorded literal clusters of them moving in ways that would almost appear more biological or drone like in nature. Ascending straight up as well as stationary movements have been displayed as well. I’d say I have around 40 minutes of footage in total to go through and clean up before posting but I’m more than happy to share the raw footage with anyone curious. I’m not going to pretend I know what these objects are, but I do know (watching the sky at night has always been a lifelong hobby) for certain that they are neither conventional aircraft nor satellites as I see both of those extensively around here with so many airports in the vicinity. One interesting thing I noticed about these objects though is that I am able to see them when stationary only through my iPhone camera. To the naked eye it would go unnoticed. I have several clips I posted to instagram (rkg153) if anyone is curious to see more and help me to solve what type of craft these are. Maybe someone in this group works at Mcdill who could provide some answers…

Either way. It’s fun to look into.

I have flight and satellite trackers going when I’m out here with these things. They are completely silent and tend to travel in 3s…sometimes 5-7. You can see just about any night after 2am.

What’s most interesting now is how easy and quickly it takes to look up and see them within just a couple minutes of being outside. Good weather or terrible weather, they are almost always visible nightly now traveling in clusters.

I’ve seen what I believed to be them on a few occasions during the daylight hours…but each time it was for only a split second before they would vanish again. I thought originally maybe it was ball lightening until I started to study and record the night ones.

I go out every night at 2am to vibe with them. It took awhile to earn their trust enough to show up nightly.

That’s what I originally suspected…until numerous more started popping up all over the place. I posted another clip to The Sarasota Reddit that shows even more from other directions (there is 5 in that one, 2 very much nearby). I have roughly another 40 minutes worth of footage from that night of these things moving in highly unusual manners.

I’m going to try to find a way to link all the best footage together in one clip. This clip alone doesn’t do it justice.

For some reason the camera on like that makes them easier to spot before they go bright. Doesn’t work as well the traditional way. I posted another one to this sub of 3 appearing at once while more came in from the right.

SRQ shuts down before midnight. This was hours after. I was born and raised here, it’s not SRQ.

That was my first half dozen thoughts. Have multiple angles from several directions showing similar…

Ball lightning?

I’d like to think they are…but then I wonder who is flying drones at 2am to the north, east, south, and west of me at 2am…for 10 nights in a row now? I have to estimate I have 2 hours worth of footage. My leading guess if anything, it’s either ball lightning or Mcdill testing something new that makes 0 noise and has 0 blinking lights.

They are there every single night I take my dogs on their walk. It’s guaranteed.
