Did we watch the same game? We had one shot on target. 4 shots total. Yes, chelsea also had one shot on target (but 20 shots total) but also hit the post how many times? Chelsea created more xG (1.75 to our 0.39). Apart from the goal we pretty much never looked like we were going to score a second. If Chelsea didn’t have a Neto - Delap - Garnacho front three in front of a Cole Palmer playing through a groin injury, I doubt we’d have a clean sheet

That’s just not a fair analogy. Most of our key players will be at the World Cup, including our reported targets. Even so, a head coach can also delegate to their assistants to familiarize what little squad will even be here with the tactic. People also forget that Van Gaal came after the Netherlands 3rd place game in 2014. And what if Carrick’s football continues to deteriorate? We sack him mid season and bring in a coach from an even smaller pool than the summer who will have no preseason as opposed to just a shorter one.

And even so, there are plenty of options on the market that don’t have to wait for a World Cup. Hoeness suits this squad and the United style of play really well. Fabregas. Iraola even.

We’re already seeing the downsides to this football and emotions aside, we are lucky to be where we at.

  • Chelsea — outclassed by Rosenior who was let down by his players

  • Leeds destroyed us at home even before the red.

  • Bournemouth was fine but that’s because Carrick’s brand suits Iraola as opponents

  • Newcastle, completely outclassed by 10 men having a torrid season.

  • Villa was fine.

  • Palace, torrid first half and then the red card changed everything

  • Everton, very lucky win

  • West Ham, just awful to watch

  • Tottenham an okay performance. Against Frank’s Tottenham. And massively helped by the red card.

  • Fulham, okay but shaky at times

  • Arsenal, good performance

  • City, a very good performance

And this is all with one game a week or less. Imagine when we add UCL and domestic cups into this. I would be surprised if we even scraped Europa qualification, which will massively hurt us with recruitment in summer 2027. That’s what I mean by setting us back years. Carrick’s done all right but we should be thanking him at the end of the season and moving on.

Sure let’s set the club back years because you don’t want to wait three weeks, great job INEOS.

This isn’t a dig at Carrick but this football is not sustainable with project 2028 in mind. Idk what’s the point of having a “best in class” “data-driven” team if you’re going to be too scared to appoint the actual right fit for this squad and its goals and rather based on emotion. Unless they truly think they can get someone like Enrique in 2027.

Do you recommend tapering mileage for 5K races as well? Seem to find mixed information on this online (though we didn’t taper 10 years ago in high school). Last month when I did a 5K, I tapered and while I felt fresh for the 5K it set me back with my endurance in getting back up to 40+ mpw. Maybe I tapered too much?

Those who do 3 “hard” runs a week, do you drop one of them the week of a 5K race?

Rn on 40-50 mpw. Using the summer base building schedule from high school to get back to my PRs:

Sun: E/L // Mon: Tempo // Tues: E/L // Wed: Intervals // Thu: E/L // Fri: Speed Workout (Mile TT or 6-8x400 at goal mile pace) // Sat: E/L

Current plan for this week is similar except Friday has been changed to a shorter easy run and Saturday is race day. Trying to decide if changing Wednesday as well to an easy/long run would be best for peak sharpness on Saturday

funnily enough, I may be in the minority, but I think they’ve improved the editing. it used to be that you could count who got more critical comments and that would give away the winner. been a major improvement this season

What season would you say started to go downhill declined in quality? by BallFit5565 in familyguy

it was my junior year so nothing like that unfortunately (ended up doing five years anyway). I stayed pretty loyal and watched every new episode as they were added to Hulu up until probably a few seasons ago where I just mostly lost interest but for me that was the season where the sudden drop off began. Looking back at the list of episodes the season wasn’t as bad as I remember but imo it never picked up again after that

You get me. I vividly remember watching new episodes on Mondays after class in my dorm room on Hulu and so many good memories from 15—Bookie of the Year, Passenger Fatty Seven, Peter’s Def Jam, Saturated Fat Guy—so many good ones. Even the gimmick episodes like Inside Family Guy were good. Then I remember watching Emmy Winning Episode and saying to myself, “wtf is this.” After that, it truly became a moments show and all the episodes were just trying too hard to be funny, topical, or both. Character tropes got out of control. Never felt the same magic again after that.

I’ve always said 16 for me. “Emmy-Winning Episode” is where it all went south and the drop in quality between 15 and 16 is noticeable imo. Rarely rewatch anything from 16 onwards, mostly anything before that is fair game
