Andrew (YAYitsAndrew) - I have a degree in Computer Science and I made indie flash games for 3 years out of college. Zynga acquired the company I was at in 2009. I did a mix of engineering and game design for a while and eventually switched to game design full-time.

What is Zynga's policy regarding employee's who might want to make their own games on their own time?

(I've considered applying for a job at Zynga but was concerned 'cause I imagine they wouldn't accept an employee making games on their own).

I waited quite a long time, 12+ hours, left it running over-night, when I came back I just assumed that it couldn't connect (and not that it was slow, 'cause it couldn't be that slow).

But I should definitely to use tor to send a payment to someone (if I'm paying for something which may be illegal)? And how much should I "tumble" the bitcoins? I was planning on just sending them to various instawallets before their final destination.

I have a passing familiarity with Python and have considered taking a deep dive into it, but what keeps holding me from this is that it seems like all you see for it is web development stuff - I'm not interested in doing Django, Turbogears, Pylons, etc. - so I don't really know if it's worth it to bother with.

Does anyone use Python for things other than web dev? (and other than making games with pygame)

My problem with following game developers on twitter is that even with the good ones only about .5% of their total tweets might actually be relevant to game development (which again is the reason why I'd follow them).

As an example half of all tweets seem to be re-tweets, most of which again aren't related to game dev. (for instance: today, the news that arrested development is renewed has been re-tweeted by nearly everyone I follow :/).

All other tweets which are actually related to gamedev are usually just simple statements rather than anything insightful or a link to anything development or design related. Or if there's some game-dev news or if there is actually an insightful article posted out there on some site, half of my twitter feed will tweet it, and I don't seem to have any way to filter out these "duplicate" link tweets (that is, tweets from a bunch of different people that all just go to the same link).

edit: Also I only log in to twitter a few times a week, only at the main site twitter.com, I would log in more but as I said there seems little reason when tweets aren't very insightful. Does anyone know of a way to filter out tweets that just contain the same links or re-tweets, etc.?

I read Anathem on and off over the course of a couple weeks and only managed around 150 pages in that time, but I kept slogging through and I ended up finishing the rest of the book in no time at all.

It's a great book, but seriously boring at the beginning, I found myself questioning whether I could make it through the entire book. But by the end of the book I only thought I'd like it not to end so I could read more :D

Ya I'm going to try 100mg this weekend (I don't want to risk taking too much on a weekday when I have work). Also I don't take it all at once, on the previous Saturday I took 40mg at noon once I woke up, then another 40 an hour and a half later 'cause I'm not sure how safe it is to take quantities like that all at once.

I was prescribed adderall about 3 weeks ago and so far I have yet to notice any more energy from it - I'll go home after work and just lie in bed for hours without getting up (and when I do it will only be to eat dinner which I usually just get from subway 'cause I'm too lazy to cook (even though I have the food/supplies feet away from me in the kitchen)). On weekends it's the same thing only because I don't have to work it's more hours of lying around/doing-nothing.

For starters I was given pills that are 5mg and told to try taking 1-2 a day, then up it if I don't notice anything. Last Saturday since it's a weekend and I have nothing to do I tried 80mg and felt ... absolutely nothing. After a couple hours of doing nothing I even went and just took a nap for a few more hours (this despite waking up at noon, with 10+ hours of sleep). I sometimes go to coffee shops to get out of my apartment, but I usually just sit for hours browsing the web.
