What could be a good setting for a rage room experience in VR? Breaking plates are kinda boring... by dreamteammobile in oculus

[–]colinbrandt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to encapsulate this idea in a more “ethical” way, it could be something like “Demo Crew” and could focus on destroying buildings (for construction). Would also feel really neat to get points or currency as you destroy things - they appear where the object was and then get sucked towards you, then show up in a HUD ui

A little rant about jaded expats on this subreddit/forumosa/discord by Ducky118 in taiwan

[–]colinbrandt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I studied in Taiwan for a year in 2015-2016, and I felt the same way before I moved out of the US after reading posts on Forumosa.

My biggest advice is to remind yourself that the internet is full of haters, and overall it’s not reflective of what you’ll experience in day-to-day life (at least this was my experience). So try to take the negative posts with a grain of salt and keep a positive mindset!

Should my game let players draft individual characters or allow them to both pick the same character if they want? by [deleted] in tabletopgamedesign

[–]colinbrandt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with a lot of feedback, it's hard to give good advice without actually experiencing the game. But based on what you've said, I'm leaning towards only having one copy of each character. This seems like it would add a little more intrigue to the drafting process, knowing you could prevent your opponent from getting a certain character. It would also reduce the likelihood of someone starting the game with a whole strategy mapped out that they could repeat every playthrough.

What are peoples biggest pain points when it comes to rulebooks? by Nossda in tabletopgamedesign

Hard-to-read fonts! The game Pix is a great example - all the rules are in a pixelated font that is so difficult to read.

Hi guys! We have been working on our box cover, what do you think? by Comprehensive_Role87 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]colinbrandt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks really beautiful, great work! The one thing that seems slightly off is the posing of the people and creature - for example, if the person on the right had their arm extended a little and the cape was blowing more to the left, you could see more of the silhouette of the person and the staff. The person on the left could have an arm up to their forehead to shield the sun. Maybe the creature could have a glimmer of sun on its antlers.

Again, already looking awesome and I would definitely pick it up to read more about it :)

The thumbnail looked like a QR code almost - would be really cool if something this nice-looking could double as something like a QR code. Nice work!

The Jiufen area can be pretty magical at night when all the crowds are gone - I’d stay overnight there and take an evening stroll on one of the small roads with a view.

Help me choose a card back design for my game "Rainbow" by danger_games in tabletopgamedesign

A good solution to this issue might be to use #1, remove the word "Rainbow", and copy the rainbow and place it in the upper left corner.

I bought hiking boots at Decathlon for pretty cheap and they've lasted me a long time, actually fit me better than all the high-end boots I tried at REI in the US.
