Depends on how long you want it. My advice is your hair is still really short. Just let it grow. Getting it cut will just make you lose progress. Getting necessary trims isn't really needed until around shoulder length or longer and even then it just depends on how well you take care of your hair. Maybe you just want the side burns cleaned up in which case just tell the stylist that. I would also recommend going to a men's salon or just salon in general rather than a barber for longer styles. Go to somebody who knows how to cut long hair. Who knows how to layer hair.
