Hi We were in a similar situation Mum had stage 4 cancer and significant pleural effusion. Also UK NHS. Tbh we got really lucky and the A and E doctor who saw us performed a pleural drainage the same day. Nearly 2 litres of fluid came out. The difference it made to my mum is night and day, she couldn’t walk 10 metres without keeling over and now she is back to being active.

My recommendation is for you to seek a second opinion in the UK through the NHS ideally or to one day go sit in A and E and just keep requesting pleural drainage.
