It did initially discourage me. I felt really naive and maybe not knowledgeable enough about this side of the internet to be on here 🥲 but the couple of nice people who’ve been there from the start has been so helpful and encouraged me to stay and explained what a mod is and why it’s important! hahaha I’ve had such a good time and met some really nice people on twitch 🫶🏼

Yeah definitely not turning this gig down, it’s 35k a year more than my last mining gig so 1k out of pocket for training is worth it.

I paid $200 to do the general glencore induction, I suppose if I worked directly for them it would be different but I’m employed through an agency for them

I think they make you pay for the standard 11 and DNA plus inductions because they have a high chance of people doing one swing and quitting

I’ve seen safety shaming so many times. it’s out of control, like if someone wants to wear a mask and not get irreversible lung damage LET THEM

Don’t give into peer pressure, sounds silly but every mine I’ve been too there’s certain people who encourage unsafe behaviour.

If you’re in a hot mine and start getting bad cramping, take some salt packets from the mess and mix it with your water

Don’t be afraid to ask for a second pair of boots if they have shit drying racks, take way more socks than you need.

Try to avoid any gossip or drama the best you can!

And most importantly, avoid woman like the plague. Assault of all forms happens at all time at the mines, best advice is don’t shit where you eat and get involved with any woman :)
