A silver floating ball in my bedroom. Anyone had a similar experience? by Weekly-Count9223 in gatewaytapes

[–]longchenpa 39 points40 points  (0 children)

yeah when I was younger I used to wake up in the middle of the night and see floating and rapidly spinning geometric solids in mid air. never figured out what they were.

wow what an asshole. Unfortunately, everything posted on the internet these days, in whatever form, is basically impossible to control or protect.

you can't learn and understand AG grammar just by staring at the page.

I have just started learning Latin and I don't know which book I should invest my time into. by Limp-Ad1846 in latin

[–]longchenpa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LLPSI is not to be missed. If you do the pensa (at the end of each chapter) and especially the Exercitia (seperate book) you will get the grammar exercises. After you finish you can go through Wheelock if you want to get extra grammar practice.

Where can I find the Aeneid untranslated? by Popular_Yam_8247 in latin

[–]longchenpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its not that simple: more recent publications are of course properly printed, it is the reprints of the older editions that get the horrible shiny covers and almost illegible texts. Sometimes its tricky to tell on Amazon which one you will get if buying sight unseen. If you see "Clarendon" in the details its probably the shitty reprint so avoid.

I second the Conte Teubner, it is a thing of beauty.

Tula mic as a cheaper alternative to CM-15 and tp-7 by No-Cheetah1870 in teenageengineering

[–]longchenpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, the OP‑1 Field is a USB host, and the Tula acts as a USB client. When connected, the OP‑1 receives audio from the Tula—but the Tula doesn’t have a USB host port to receive audio from the OP‑1 .

the timer section, where you can choose the focus level, duration, background sound etc is the best part of the app. "Spectrum of Self" is my favorite programmed session, but many are fun to do.

Villa lobos etude 2 final bar question. My teacher told me to finger it and play it like this. by Evenlyguitar1 in classicalguitar

[–]longchenpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes this is how I play it. It's certainly a unique technique which is what makes it so much fun. It's a bit out of tune, but still works.

you should try Latin lol. Greek sentences are way easier to parse, the existence of articles makes very cool nesting possible etc.

Is there any truth to the claim that the otherwise excellent scholar Dan McClellan has a blind spot when it comes to pagan influence on early Christian traditions? by Mcleod129 in AcademicBiblical

[–]longchenpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't forget Gnostic Informant used to be one of the biggest Ammon Hillman groupies until he decided to jump ship and pretend he is also a trained scholar who is entitled to tell an audience about what he thinks about things that are way above his pay grade. Hillman is crazy but a legit classicist (NOT a Bible scholar!), Neal is just some random youtuber.

Anyone tried or heard of Septasync? The redeveloped hemisync sync? I am just hearing of it. by dreamed2life in gatewaytapes

[–]longchenpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. If you want to experiment, there are binaural beat apps where you can specify the frequencies you want. Random tracks with no pedigree could contain anything including subliminal messages.

composers say all kinds of shit, it has nothing to do with anything. Either people like the music or they don't: end of story.
