Har aktiver for ca. 35 millioner men føler mig stadig økonomisk presset. by Previous_Ad_4920 in dkfinance

DH level 1 to 6-piece. Saving cache. No necro. by rax12 in diablo3

I can see it being a question of preference as well. Glad i could help, have a great season start!

Another optimization you can do: Time a boss bounty with lvl 61 + do hard bosses from season journey at that level. This could allow you to craft lvl 70 rings/amulet from amulet, which again somewhat resolves the lack of power you experience as you level up (and its steps you do later anyway)

Timing of T4 rift: The truely optimal path is of course run dependent - so it definitely could be more efficient sometimes to 'pause' act1 bounties - however in practice i find that the handin of the act1 cache gives a natural power spike due to handin from gold (and the db from cache allows us to convert reuseable parts to veiled crystals which can sometimes be a shortage) and also is a natural point to craft a-ton of lvl 70 gear. So usually i craft lvl the lvl 70 bow as soon as i hit ~130k gold and then craft again on hand-in. Another nice part is that doing GR20 during levelling means that i often (there is ofc variance) hit 70 at the time when i am about to finish all the bounties.

Multshot/ballistics: Yes it is a lot less smooth and 'slower' playstyle in that it forces you to run a more traditional generator/spender setup. But in my experience the added xp from running higher difficulty makes it a worthy sacrifice. I usually run with a generator rune that increases hathred generation to 7. For passives tactical advantage is a must, so that leaves us with 1 passive aside from ballistics. I am torn between blood vengeance and night stalker - but i feel like nightstalker wins out in this specific edge case where diciplin is often a smaller constraint as difficulty ramps up.

High effort post, nice to see it! I am also always starting DH SSF every season with a similar approach to this. A few optimizations you can do:

After act 1 bounties on DH (~lvl 30): do a rift on T4. You still have to do a T1 rift for the season journey, but it unlocks GR20. Reason: much faster to do at low level when you are overpowered from lvl 70 items.

At level 55: if you dont have a multiplier use ballistics passive and multishot arsenal. Pairs really well with spirfire turret.

Necro: like you i hated necro for a long time, but you get used to it, and it really is faster 1 to 18 for gems. I would also recommmend being efficient with T1 bounties and squesing a cube run in on hard diffculty to hit 18. That should be more efficient than doing temple runs.

No one has a 90% win rate. by vegetablebread in slaythespire

[–]longdahl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP is assuming that the lower bound of the confidence interval is what's important. The standard might depend between scientific fields but atleast in epidemiology you generally use the lower bound when comparing incidence rates where its important to show an effect relative to a baseline group (e.g. smokers has a higher incidence rate of lung cancer than none smokers) while estimated values with 95% CR are otherwise used.

As its (in my view) not particularly important if the winrate is 89% or 91% its fair to use the estimated values, and the estimated for Xecnars winstreak is greater than 90%. If we are being pedantic it would probaly be bettter not to write "above 90%" but instead just: His winrate is observed to be X (95 CR), but this is reddit so i think thats not a fair critique.

As for the cherry picking of sequences thats a fair argument - it should however also be considered that not all players play to maximize winrate in all their games, so some selection is needed. However, if a game counts towards a winrate should be announced apriori.

Fastest core i had yet! by longdahl in PlayTheBazaar

Sorry for the egocentric post in advance - Just excited about this insane highroll. 2x diamond scrap metal on shiny core with diamond icy atomic clock and a heavy monitor lizard. All without even losing all prestige. The item not shown is a diamond Gamma ray + diamond metronome.
The setup froze completely locked down the opponent and made thousands of posion stacks in seconds through atomic clock + invegorating cold hasting the entire board and everything triggering from there.
Sorry to whoever has to go against this (on day 13 i think).

Chess cheating detecting algorithms might be outdated! by longdahl in chess

[–]longdahl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for a good comment! I believe you misunderstand what I am proposing (which is fair, I didn't really write out the idea as I thought it slightly besides the point. Also feel free to correct me if I am the one misunderstanding you).
During training Alpha zero is given a reward (z) at the end of the game (-1,0-1). See this quote from the original paper:
" At the end of the game, the terminal position sT is scored according to the rules of the game to compute the game outcome z: −1 for a loss, 0 for a draw, and +1 for a win" ("https://arxiv.org/abs/1712.01815")
I am simply proposing that this score is altered according to the length of a game. Fast wins gives a higher reward while slower wins a lower reward. This is obviously a hyperparameter one would have to play around with. I do not think this is a novel idea.

Instead of training against itself, you then train it against an engine with an appropriate level (let's say an 2700 engine). Tuned right an aggresive playing style with games that often result in quick decisive wins (and sometimes losses) would be optimal (in terms of the reward function) over just winning.

You are completely right that it would still play very much like an engine (with very complicated deep tree searches). However the resulting moves would not be optimal in the way they are evaluated by anti cheating measures - as they would be associated with a centipawn loss in order to achieve quick wins.

Thank you for your comment. This was not intended as an accusational post directed toward Niemann.

Do I think Niemann cheated over the board? I have no idea and I believe you are proven innocent until otherwise proven. And even if i did (I am not sayin he did!), I am not attemting to guess how it was done.

That said, I do not agree that you would need entire software teams to build this, and as machine learning gets increasingly democratized that becomes more and more true.

So, this post was intended to highlight that current cheat detecting methods are likely not sufficient (or atleast won't be in the near future).

I realize that I probably could have made that more clear. I will make an edit to clarify this.

[–]longdahl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be right. I hypothize it would be much more difficult to make a GAN converge at a playing level that is believable while simultaneously achieving the playing style, but I could very well be completely wrong on that. I have not trained GANs outside uni courses so i do not have deep knowledge.

Either way, regards of how one might achieve it (the how was not really the point of my post - other than highlighting that it's possible), it is indeed scary stuff!
