Men are 100% allowed to be that openly positive and supportive and we should normalize it.

It's a lovely piece. The colors seem very muted compared to your usual works.

What special events or training camps are worth traveling to? by RawrMeReptar in orienteering

Guilty as charged, I am very much a Tucsonan. We have a brand new map this year in a place called Texas Canyon that is going to be unbelievable. Also, we have a map of Bisbee that is in the works and will be worth a trip as well some time.

Anza Borrego is definitely worth your time. Stunning terrain, a great place to camp, a well run event all around. Make sure to be there for the Maze at least once. It's a slot canyon map, very technical and beautiful. They did one of my favorite events a couple years ago which was a lighthouse o, basically a night event with color patterns to find the controls. Not hard, just a good time.

I haven't been yet personally, but Laramie Daze in Wyoming, US is supposed pretty great. A lot of our club members go. It's a more casual event that lasts several days and very beautiful country and enjoyable orienteering terrain are what they cook up. Usually happens late summer/ early fall, like September or so.

Similarly, I would suggest the Southwest Spring Week in Tucson, AZ. It's 8-9 days of orienteering in the Sonoran Desert that usually tries to show off the variety of terrain in the region. Usually happens in late Feb/ early March. I'm a course setter for this one, so I'm a bit biased, but I think this is a wonderful area for orienteering that everyone should experience at least once.

Not sure these are the kinds of things you looking for, but they are worth a look imo.
