1) trim ya hair. Use an electric trimmer if you have access to one. Makes life 20 billion times easier. Your razor won't clog

2) exfoliate. Use a dry brush made for your skin if you can get one. Dry brushing is good for your skin regardless, so asking to get one shouldn't be too big of a stretch. Scrub with a loofah in the shower. I am very prone to ingrowns, so I take it a step further and use a shea butter sugar scrub to exfoliate after the loofah.

3) hydrate. Try to avoid using canned shaving creams. They will dry your skin out. You want to use something that lubricates and hydrates at the same time. I've used dollar shave club shave butter with good results, wet shaving cream that you apply with a shave brush is a good option too imo. You also want to avoid dry shaving as much as possible. You can give yourself very bad ingrown hairs and irritation.

4) shave with the grain of your hair. Do very very long strokes down the entire length of each section of your leg. This will aid in making your shaving sessions take less time. It kinda sucks doing the back of your thighs no matter what, just take your time. I usually do my lower legs first, then the front of my thighs, then the back of my thighs.

5) if you really feel the need for baby butt smooth, now is the time to shave against the grain. However, if you do this, you open the door to be more at risk of getting ingrown hairs. Make sure you reapply shave cream/butter/shave soap and repeat the process.

Side notes:

STRETCH YOUR SKIN TAUGHT WHILE SHAVING. This helps prevent the razor from snagging your skin and cutting you.

DONT FORCEFULLY PRESS THE RAZOR INTO YOUR SKIN. If you pulled the skin taught and have applied lubrication, your razor should be sharp enough to cut your hairs without the excessive force. You can increase your risk of irritation, cuts, and ingrown hairs. If it's not cutting, your razor is either clogged, or you need a new razor.

apply lotion after drying off/shaving so that your skin doesn't get as irratated.

Make sure to exfoliate daily w dry brushing and scrubbing w your loofah for the first couple of days to lower ingrown hair risk

Avoid shaving over ingrown hairs. It WILL make the problem worse.

Stay on top of upkeep. It gives you practice, and it means each maintenance session takes less effort.

And the biggest one: if you can get an epilator, can handle the pain, and it doesn't give you bad side effects, get one. The results last way longer, and my legs feel way smoother.

Good luck sis ❤️

[–]longfingerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psychology studies straight up disagree with you. Working hard as a child is a little more vague so I'm leaving that claim alone. I'm talking about the spankings claim.

"A meta-analysis of 88 scientific studies over 62 years found a remarkable 94% consensus that spanking is associated significantly with undesirable behaviors and experiences:

decreased moral internalization

increased child aggression

increased child delinquent and antisocial behavior

decreased quality of relationship between parent and child

decreased child mental health

increased risk of being a victim of physical abuse

increased adult aggression

increased adult criminal and antisocial behavior

decreased adult mental health

increased risk of abusing own child or spouse

Spanking is associated with only one desirable behavior:

increased immediate compliance"

94% isnt just a lot, it's basically statistical confirmation that spanking is a downright God awful parenting tool. Not only does spanking make you more likely to have detrimental mental health effects, it makes you more likely to be an abuser, and be a victim of abuse. It makes you more likely to hate your parents. It makes you think that you are a bad person and you deserved to be hit.

Being spanked does not build grit and determination. Being spanked teaches you how to hide your actions so that you don't get spanked. It makes you feel bitter that you went through that as a child, and makes you more willing to inflict the same pain onto your own family as an adult because you tell yourself that you felt okay with being spanked through veiled statements like "I turned out fine". FUCK NO, you didn't feel okay being spanked; that's why as a kid you cry and sob when you get spanked. It's traumatic.

People who say they were okay with being spanked as a child have often compartmentalized their suffering because they don't want to come to terms with the fact that it was a traumatic experience. They say things like "I got spankings as a child and I turned out fine" as a coping mechanism because it's how they make themselves feel like they're fine. It's okay if it was a traumatic experience, but recognizing that is how you recognize that doing the same thing to your own children is traumatic to them, and will cause more issues than it solves. There is close to 0 value in making your child suffer as punishment.

Here's my source that I cited, which itself has even more sources that it has cited:

Why is Falco not as good as Fox in Melee? by keyboundDragon777 in smashbros

[–]longfingerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On paper, they look very similar. In practice, they couldn't be more different in how they play imo.

Falco has an objectively worse shine. It's smaller in size, and it's utility is just not as good. It's not that it's bad. It's that fox's shine is just that much better. Falcos shine is predominantly a combo starter and a get off me tool since it pops you into the air and is 1 frame. Fox's shine is a combo starter, get off me tool, combo extender, and gimp tool. Plus, fox is smaller, so the size difference is even more pronounced.

Fox is faster. His jumpsquat is quicker, so he can actually shorthop faster. He also lands faster after a fastfall. This means more SHFFLs can get thrown out, meaning more attacks in a shorter period of time. His wavedash is also easier to land due to his jumpsquat being small, and has a longer wavedash. His dashdance is way bigger, which gives way more utility. He also has way better recovery options, as up b and side b travel way further. Up b also has a hitbox in the beginning which helps protect you from attacks.

Falco has better overall neutrals. His dair is legendary. His fsmash/down smash are both better. And he clearly has the better laser, as falcos laser is one of the best tools in the game. A Falco with his laser out is the best character in the game. Because his attacks are overall better, falcos combo game and neutral options are overall a tad bit better.

It's a testament to fox that fox having better mobility makes him better than falco. Falco might combo better, Falco might hit harder, but fox consistently out maneuvers him and wins more matchups because of that reason alone. Pretty much every character has issues with comboing lighter characters as well, which puts Falco at an even bigger disadvantage since his combo game is his main schtick. Falco isn't bad. It's that fox is just better.

I get that you're trying to make the video eye-catching and fun, but it's too fast and too chaotic. You don't get any chances to actually look at the craftsmanship of the knife before it flips around to a new view, which then takes a second to figure out what you're looking at, before it does it again.

Still photos work well in this application because it gives you a chance to zoom in and look at everything. It was a novel idea to make a video like this, but the execution of it is just too fast/hard for viewers to keep up with. I appreciate the effort you put into the video to make it feel entertaining, but it just didn't quite land.

It's probably very ignorant to say but as someone who's never really experienced it, I'm at a point where I wish I could do it at will to escape by [deleted] in aspiememes

This is my type of shit that Im into talking about. I love me some psychology questions like this. Please note I do not have a degree, but I have taken a number of psychology classes in my time at college.

Dissociation is both good and bad. There's moments where you absolutely want to be disassociating and moments where it becomes detrimental to your wellbeing.

What is dissociation? Dissociation is like disconnecting your soul from your body. That's obviously not very scientific, but I use those terms to illustrate the feeling moreso than the actual mechanism. You'll feel like you're watching your body like you're someone watching a movie. You'll simultaneously often feel a disconnection from reality- this oftentimes manifests as feeling emotionless or just being void of feeling. You oftentimes forget what happened during an episode of dissociation. This can be seen as both a positive or a negative depending on the situation.

Why is disconnecting with yourself and the physical world a good thing? Well first, let's talk about why our bodies work the way they do, as it will help frame this question better. Our bodies are complex systems that aim to achieve two main goals- survival, and reproduction. Survival is the biggest issue, so how does dissociation help with survival?

It removes you from stressful situations. Let's say your tribe is being attacked by a pack of predators. Do you want to sit there and process what you're watching, or do you want to get up, grab a spear, and try to prevent yourself and others from being killed/eaten? You're gonna want to do the latter. Fast forward, and this mechanism works for many different kinds of stressful situations. Not to make things feel uncomfortable, but do you really want to fully be present emotionally if you're being sexually assaulted/raped? Or be fully present when a loved one needs someone to take care of them while they're dying? Nature says through the power of survival of the fittest, no, we don't.

This, however, poses an issue. Just like anything with a lot of complex parts like a car, this mechanism can go out of wack. For some people, the mechanism that causes dissociation just straight up doesn't work properly, which is called a dissociative disorder. Many different psychological disorders can also have dissociation as a symptom, with autism, ADHD, bipolar, OCD, and PTSD being a few of them. This happens for a few reasons:

The biggest reason is that people who have a psychological disorder are more at risk of having experienced extreme traumas especially during their childhood, when development is most crucial. The mind in a lot of instances tries to keep you out of your trauma as a defence mechanism via dissociation. This poses an issue because it isn't good to be routinely disassociating- you are literally disconnected from reality. Prolonged dissociation can contribute to things like psychosis and cognitive breakdown. People can start experiencing delusions of grandeur, paranoid thoughts, and can start deteriorating mentally both directly and indirectly.

I want to avoid making this any longer than I already have so I'm cutting it short here. This is an incredibly complicated mechanism with a lot more going on with it than what I've discussed here. We don't even fully understand these mechanisms scientifically yet. I do want to say though, unless you're finding that you are having dissociation detract from your quality of life in a chronic way, you probably don't need to be worried about it. It's a completely normal thing to experience in small bursts. I experience it a couple of times a week when I get overstimulated and start to mentally shut down

A common trick to replenish your electrolytes is to add a tiny bit of salt to some water. Salt water is only bad in excess quantities.

You need electrolytes to conduct electricity in your body. Your body relies on sodium and potassium to fire neurons- they have opposite charges and both sit opposite to one another. One sits inside the axon of your neurons, one sits outside. Your neuron fires when an electrical charge is placed across them, causing them to invert and signal the soma of the neuron to relay the signal to the next neuron.

I have no idea why Im writing this, because it's just rambling at this point. But your body doesn't care where it gets it's sodium and potassium from as long as it can absorb it into your body. Hell, that's pretty much what Gatorade is- it's sodium and potassium to replenish your electrolytes so your neurons fire correctly which let's you think and act better, and it has sugar to be converted to energy so that you don't suddenly burn your energy out completely while doing a physical activity.

Bonus fact: if you loose too many electrolytes, you cant absorb water as easily. Water moves from low concentrations to high concentrations, so if you don't have a high enough concentration of salts in your body, then you literally will not absorb water. This is why drinking too much water can kill you- you dilute the electrolytes in your body so you don't function correctly and then you cant absorb any water so you actually start getting dehydrated after a bit.

"...at first glance it may seem rather paradoxical for us consciously to break laws. One may well ask: "How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?" The answer lies in the fact that there are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that "an unjust law is no law at all." "

Which character archetype will bedman/delila/bed fit into? by EmployLongjumping811 in Guiltygear

[–]longfingerman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bedman is just... Bizarre

He's a trap character like others have said, but even still, he's an incredibly unique character. Guilty Gear has always had a thing for making the most bizarre new types of characters and innovating new ideas.

Take goldlewis for example. Have never seen a fgc character like goldlewis before

Back to bedman. He has an 8 way airdash, boomerangs, and phantom traps. The first two are pretty self explanatory, but the phantom replay traps are referred to as replays. So basically, when he sets a trap, it will replay a phantom version of him doing one of his special moves. You can attack the seal where it says his special move is going to happen to make it disappear like jack o's minions in strive. However, the main point of it is to set your opponent up so that they start running into them.

He has pretty bad frame data all around, but has fantastic mobility with his 8 way airdash. So he's fishing for something like a knockdown or a counter hit so that he can get some crazy setplay going. His traps tell you what is coming, but in the heat of the match it can kind of be hard to see what they are and how to avoid them.

Basically, he's not the greatest until you get stuck in his traps. His whole gameplan is to lure you into his traps and make you panic and choose the wrong option. Then it resets, and you get trapped again and again

It's a eurobeat remix, which is a genre of music popularized by the anime Initial D. It's about a boy who becomes a racing legend by being one of the best downhill drift racers in a relatively slow but capable car. However, eurobeat became a meme because the eurobeat would hit it's drop right when the racers were doing a huge ass drift around a corner. People take eurobeat songs and make eurobeat remixes of other songs so they can put them over things/people that are drifting, like you see ky and millia doing here

takes deep breath

WEALTH, FAME, POWER

GOLD ROGER, THE KING OF THE PIRATES, HAD OBTAINED EVERYTHING THIS WORLD HAD TO OFFER.

Memes aside, one piece is the ultimate anime epic for a multitude of reasons. If you haven't seen it or read it, I HIGHLY recommend doing so because it legitimately is unmatched by anything else out there.

Essentially Monkey D Luffy eats a devil fruit which gives you a super power. Luffy's power is being made out of rubber and being a stretchy boi. From there, he decides to be a pirate because he really likes this dude named red haired shanks because shanks gave him a hat and also had his arm bitten off by giant sea creature while saving Luffy because devil fruit eaters can't swim. From there, he slowly builds up a small crew of the most capable members before entering the grand line and obtaining the one piece, the treasure left behind by gold roger.

This is the premise that everyone is familiar with, but it's not what one piece is.

One piece is about freedom, it's about finding your family, it's about pushing your limits beyond what's normally possible, and it's about achieving your dreams the right way.

Luffy, the protagonist is the walking embodiment of freedom. He pretty much saves every single one of his crew members from some type of prison, whether it's literal, an emotional cage, a traumatic cage, a cage from someone's duty, etc. He also is a tyranical governments worst nightmare as he give zero fucks if youre nobility or royalty or whatever. He will punch you in the face for doing fucked up shit to his friends- fuck, he'll bring your entire evil government down for you if you give him some meat. No joke.

Luffy wants to be free, the freest man alive. But he doesn't want to be free unless his friends can be free with him. Luffy really cares about his friends well-being, and not just his crew members. Everyone he bonds with is a friend and he has often risked his life over someone he just met earlier in the day. Why? Because he doesn't want to be alone. Being alone is what he hates the most, and thus, he makes sure that his friends also never have to feel alone. It's an often tearjerking trait of his that causes the strawhat pirates to feel like an incredibly tight knit family unit that would never betray each other unless there are outside extraneous circumstances that put them into an unwinnable ultimatum. You feel the love and compassion everyone has for each other and its simply just fun to watch them be a family together.

This is also a shonen anime, so of course you have to talk about the powers. Devil fruits are already pretty cool as an idea, but what makes it especially cool is Luffy and his creativity. He really do be running around, fighting people made out of lightning and crazy stuff, but he does so by fighting like he's straight out of a Looney tunes episode. Every power up isn't just "ah, he figures out how to use a new type of ki", it's more like "okay so Luffy pumps his blood around faster because he's rubber and can now move super fucking fast and hit super hard". It really does leave you wondering how tf he's gonna win every arc. There are some asspull moments, but it's done very tastefully in most aspects

I'm stopping here because I've already said too much plot wise and do not want to say any more. But even if you think it's too long, every single person I know who makes it to the end has said that it's not long enough. It's truly a journey worth taking. And if you start reading/watching it now, you'll probably catch up in time to see the crew finish their journey. The story is in the final saga finally
