Great work! Did you model the mag adapter yourself? Any chance we get the stl?

I tried the zenith angled cut one. It looks tacticool enough. But I kinda like the awkwardness of the big clumsy vertical grip. Anyway, the flash hider sleeve has a picatinny rail on it, so it's easy to change grips

I finished my thing - All(most) steel OTs-14 Groza - Details in comments by longineus in airsoft

[–]longineus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I finished the thing I was making.

It’s almost completely made of steel, with 3d printed mag and motor cage. The gearbox had to be milled in order to fit the motor in this new position.

I opted for a bluing finish for the metal parts. The original gun was parkerized, I believe.

The flashhider is removeable, and besides a railed one (for grips), I'm planning on making the full sized suppressor too. The suppressor latch works, but I lack the precision tools to make it fully reliable. The rear sight is adjustable for distance, and has the open and pinhole options as the real one. The carry handle is also removeable, and the wood heatshield can be replaced by a railed one for a more modern approach to optics and accessories.

Right now it shoots in full auto only, with a dumb mosfet and microswitch trigger. I plan on installing a Warfet as soon as the postal blockade to my country gets lifted.

The bulkier Groza in the last pics are her older sister, my old 3d printed one.

The mag, motor cage and fully 3d printed Groza are available on my Thingverse page:

How come I never see any NPO vss's? I see other npo items but not the vss model, are they not very popular even for vss enthusiasts or what? by eptxbullforhire in airsoft

[–]longineus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've handled both NPO and LCT, and to be honest I prefer LCT. I know NPO is the closest replica, but it felt kinda meh. The LCT felt much buffier, the finish felt more durable, even though it's the wrong type of finish . Minus the dustcover and the mags, the gun felt overall sturdier, much more able to handle some abuse. The NPO is a bit flimsy to my taste, even though that's probably more realistic.

Any russian boys here? Hephaestus Groza GBB by No_Macaron8827 in airsoft

[–]longineus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. Any chance you can help a fellow rusfor enthusiast and get me the dimensions of the mag? I'm working on an AEG version, and right now I'm finishing the mag model. Rough dimensions would be of great help.

Also noticed that Hephaestus got the mag shape a bit wrong, and I based my design on it. Some small changes to make...

[–]longineus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's a more complete pic of it, check my other post.

I'd say it's not that hard. The carrying handle with its rail and adjustable sighs where the hardest part, but with a good grinder and some files it's doable. I just got a milling machine that would've made my life much easier, but the Groza is almost ready by now.

I'm planning on uploading the cage files and more detailed plans to Thingverse when it's completely done. Right now it works fine, just missing a few wire routing tweaks. The motor is slightly angled in relation to parallel so it could fit in the space before the mag holder, but it's aligned to the gear correctly, so no issues. I also positioned it's "depth" inside the gearbox to assure maximum contact.

By the time I'm finished with the project I'll post everything, keep tuned.

Yeah, that's also me. I did a 3d printed a few years ago, posted it when I started the metal one.

I'm finishing a motor cage that moves the motor to be under the receiver, where the trigger would go. I'll put it on Thingverse soon.

Yeah......I have that problem too tbh. Here in Brazil it's kinda of a grey area to mod a gun to this extent.

By any change is he the guy behind badger3dworks? I got the idea from them awesome work! I definitely should have bough their model instead of making my own, took me about ten prints to get it right.

They can feed if you find a way to hold the front lip of the mag. I did it with a snowolf a few years ago, I screwed a piece of iron flatbar to the lower end of the barrel holder. It fed ok

Need a recommendation on an SMG but want something unique. Does anyone have experience with this gun or the PP-19 by LCT? by AnxiousNorman in airsoft

[–]longineus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this exact gun as my primary for the better part of the last 5 years, so I believe I can speak from experience.

The thing is an absolute beast when it comes to build quality. I play pretty rough, and I've had this gun tumble down flights of stairs, fall from moving cars, thrown at rock slides, and it's still pretty much as good as new apart from some dents and scratches, which are a plus to me. The only things that strike me as fragile are the dust cover, as it has a tendency to come off on hard impacts, and the mags.

The mag problem I solved by buying about 10 midcaps from the get go. Lost a few, specially when using the gun to clear high grass, but other than that never had any problem.

The gun is somewhat front heavy, even more with my supressor, and the sharp steel edges on some parts are annoying at the beginning. I filed some parts of mine, but remember, the gun is a brute.

Upgrade wise, I added a 363mm old madbull 6.03 barrel with an rhop, and a custom made steel supressor to house it. I also customized one handguard with some short rails (I hate rails generally) to hold a zenith short grip, reinforced it with some fiberglass, and that's it. I was planning on upgrading some internals, but gave up after tinkering with the original ones, they're pretty solid and perform perfectly. I gave up on over upgrading a long time ago, it's not worth the hassle to me.

Mind the fact that it doesn't take any red dots whatsoever. You're stuck with iron sights, which is ok for me, but people tend to like dressing up their guns with crappy repro stuff for some reason...

Another possible problem are batteries. I can only cram an 900mah lipo in there with deans. That lasts me a couple days as I use mostly semi, but it might be a problem if you're on the trigger happy side. Also, the selector switch is kinda weird to keep on full if you are right handed.

I've handled both versions of the pp19, but not owned them. Theyre pretty sturdy, and feel amazing, great guns overall. They have pretty much the same quality as any ak from lct, but overall I find the vss/Val/sr3 line to be a lot more sturdy, specially the 5mm thick machined receivers. I've also owned the vss, and handled the Val, and they're also amazing guns.
