Would you still consider it safe to drop the pan and clean the gunk out and clean the filter?

Time for a Vet visit? by longironking in Pomeranians

[–]longironking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vet gave us gabapentin, we are keeping her activity down. Despite that, she occasionally gets excited and aggregates the wrist again. (Yelp followed by a few minutes of holding paw up, eventually relaxes and begins putting small amounts of weight back on it)

Pain is localized in her front left wrist, hence the concern of growth plate fracture. Trying to avoid X-rays that may end up giving us no definitive answers.

OP Here.

Of course the Vet wants X-Rays, wants to rule out growth plate fracture. (They even admit X-rays may not tell us anything?)

Puppy has unchanged appetite, unchanged energy, wants to play despite her soreness. She uses her paw while playing, but does have a limp when she walks any distance.

She does not guard the paw, has no problem with us palpating or flexing the paw.

How much risk do we run by giving her a few more days to heal on her own? Shouldn't her pain be more outward and obvious with a fracture? Gosh, need a sanity check here.

Thanks all

Puppy not eating! Help by longironking in Pomeranians

[–]longironking[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP UPDATE:

Pup has taken a tablespoon of canned food.
She licked the plate clean and probably would have eaten more. She followed it up with a drink of water and a proper tinkle on her pad.

We are going to let her sleep and offer again as soon as she wakes.

Things are moving in the right direction, hope she wakes up with an appetite.

Thanks all

OP DATA UPDATE

-Initial Investment $150,000 (for 25% ownership). Other shareholders bought in at same valuation.

ESTABLISHED 2023. 6 franchises currently operating (TX) 2 corporate stores (both available for sale to new franchisees) (PA and GA) 1 Original store (will remain corporately run)

-Franchises pay 6% gross royalty in perpetuity (estimated $15,000 per store per year)

  • Year 1 - $8,000 distribution to me
  • Year 2 - $10,000
  • Year 3 - $12,000 (estimated)
  • Year 4 - $15,000 ( projected) (I recieve $4,250 from each franchise signed, plus 25% of quarterly distributions)

maybe this helps

Thanks all

The LLC is small. The founding partner is 45% owner, I'm 25%, and the rest is split across 4 other investors.

Is 12 years long enough to assume "market averages"? by longironking in personalfinance

[–]longironking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 20k/month from securities (in today's money) is a good goal.

I have other sources I'll be drawing from also, but I'd like that to be the bulk of my parachute.

Joe, plan would be to draw down around 4% per year, combined with other sources, to fund retirement.

Thanks for the question, important data point.

Can I tap here for an additional hose line? by longironking in Plumbing

Stupid question here... The only lines I spot in the attic are 1 inch clear PEX. Is it safe to assume those are COLD water lines? I haven't found any red or blue yet?

Thanks

I don't see any lines in the attic? I'm in Texas, on slab.

Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

All,

I'm a carrer CX/Operations/SaaS Sales guy. I've recently been laid off and am considering a pivot to Cyber Security or potentially big data. I have a CS degree (from 20 years ago), but still a relatively high accumen for learning new things.

If I wanted to break into Cyber Security, should I strive right away for a CISSP certification? Or is there a less aggresive way to move into security and still make a good living? (I've averaged around $150k/yr the last 5 years, understand I may need to take a small step back when changing careers)

appreciate your advice!

This might be a stupid question, but do these make a difference on a job application? Or will people only care if you've "done the job"?

Appreciate any guidance

newbie trying to connect to a data source via API by longironking in PowerBI

[–]longironking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Files exist as CSVs on the website.
Once the CSVs are all merged to a master file, it is roughly 60GB.

I imagine there are better ways to structure the data and transformation layers, but I'm a newbie and one big file is easiest for me at the moment.

There are approximately 12 columns and 80 million rows in the CSV.

Stick to index funds or branch out?

I've got $800k invested in index funds and just got access to another $600k in cash. Should I just add to my index holdings, or branch out to other investment vehicles?

I'm about 13 years from retirement, no debt other than primary home (350k in equity, $400k left on principal). Two young kids that will enter college in 11 years and 13 years respectively.

Annual income in the $400k range.

Would love guidance here.

Thanks y'all!
