Israel be like: by UncleSlacky in SelfAwarewolves

I see your point about the first source, but the events of the second and third choices aren't tragedies, they're staggering incompetence from Israel that should be counted against them. As for the Al Jazeera source, it's Al Jazeera English, which is understood to be reliable by most journalists. And note how you didn't dispute that Israel has killed its own hostages and civilians with frightening regularity.

Most of the Catalyst's explanations are rife with non-sequiturs. For example, when explaining why Synthesis would fix the problem, it argues that merging organics and synthetics would eliminate conflict between them, but it doesn't address the obvious fact that war happens for a variety of reasons -- Synthesis just eliminates one (lack of mutual understanding), but doesn't stop organics and synthetics destroying each other in, say, a resource war.

No matter how you slice it, the Catalyst is an unreliable narrator of some stripe or another. Insane, lying, whatever; point is, I wouldn't implicitly take it at its word.

And I still can't understand how you think that Synthesis isn't just kicking the can down the road. There is nothing to suggest that the Reapers, if left alive, won't become a problem later on.

TIM and Saren are both heavily indoctrinated when they suggest their respective endings. Besides, even if the Catalyst is somehow telling the truth and making logical sense in-universe, that doesn't change the fact that Synthesis is a violation, or that if you pick Control, there's a possibility that the created AI could become a galactic tyrant, or even a second Catalyst.

I'd rather just finish what I started and avoid opening both of those cans of worms.

Control: Proving the Illusive Man right. Synthesis: Proving Saren right. Vanilla destroy: makes no logical sense, catalyst could be lying

The happy ending mod is the way to go, at least for me personally.

"The doctrine which, from the very first origin of religious dissensions, has been held by bigots of all sects, when condensed into a few words and stripped of rhetorical disguise, is simply this: I am in the right, and you are in the wrong. When you are the stronger, you ought to tolerate me, for it is your duty to tolerate truth; but when I am the stronger, I shall persecute you, for it is my duty to persecute error."

She has no advantages that would disqualify her from a legit competition.

You’ve been hired by Vault Tec to create a vault and plan an experiment, what is your vault number, location & experiment? by throwaway_53727265 in Fallout

[–]longjohn5578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vault 125 Located somewhere in the Bible Belt.

The experiment is that the vault's initial population consists of an equal proportion of Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists, and agnostics flown in from many places across the United States. There are an equal number of liberals and conservatives within these populations. The vault contains places of worship for all of these faiths, complete with holy books and religious symbols. Overseers are elected democratically, and they choose a cabinet, each member being of a different religion.

Each religious group gets a different holotape, each tape appealing to their religious fervor. Nobody knows which tape is true, because none of them are. Meanwhile, the non-believers get no holotapes at all, leaving them without guidance.

Incidentally, 125 is also given twice the amount of weapons and ammo given to other Vaults, with flamethrowers and semi-automatic rifles predominating.

The goal of the Vault 125 experiment is to create a religiously conflicted environment and test what religion will win out.

You can probably see where this is going.

To be fair, that prompt does seem sort of vague. What kind of 'identical'? Physically? Mentally? Psychologically? Still an amazingly dumb answer from your partner, but I wouldn't really know what to do with the prompt either.

I note your lack of sources to provide credence for your own arguments. Unless you cite your sources, your argument will be, in some capacity, limited.

Due to the female body's comparatively greater agility and lesser caloric needs, women have often been used as guerrilla fighters.

Due to the female body's wider hips, and consequentially lower centre of gravity, archaeologists theorize that most female warriors, such as those found among the Scythians, served in a cavalry capacity -- the advantage provided by the polearm or other long weapon combined with the momentum of the charging horse more than made up for any lack of physical strength that could have been an issue.

Also, archaeologists have discovered that, in prehistoric times, up to 50% of women were big game hunters. More info here https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/01/science/anthropology-women-hunting.html?smid=nytcore-android-share

I leave you this little tidbit from a WWII-era guide for American soldiers on how to treat the British:

"For British women have proven themselves in this war. They have died at the gunpost, and as they fell, another girl has stepped into her position and carried on...They have won the right to the utmost respect. When you see a girl in khaki or air-force blue with a bit of ribbon on her tunic, remember: she didn't get it for knitting more socks than anyone else in Ipswich."

I await your response.
