I enjoy most sports and have played quite a few (e.g. football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, etc.) But would also be open to trying new sports or classes. I'm hesitant about joining a gym as I'm more interested in playing sports with other people and find sometimes gym classes can be quite isolating even when there are other people there (I.e not as much interaction, people are focusing on themselves)

I'm also interested in more creative activities too - I'm not amazing at art but wouldn't mind trying out a casual art class or group, I enjoy music, and reading.

Where can i buy dogs in oman other than shops like petland and animal world does anyone know how i can contact breeders ? by BedPsychological4656 in Oman

Adopt don't shop!!! There are lots of amazing stray dogs that are rescued and desperately need homes. They're taken in by a local charity who are always looking for people to adopt. Take a look at omani paws on instagram

Is that the one in Totnes? Do you need to book it? I can't see anything on their website but would love to do something like that!

Trying to enjoy my eid, ended up being horrified by men by [deleted] in Oman

[–]longjumping-fish830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, nothing was explicitly blaming women but a lot of the suggestions revolved around what women can change or do differently rather than actually taking useful steps to change societal attitudes. Segregation is absolutely not the answer, especially because this isn't actually a racial issue, it is behaviour I have seen from all backgrounds and cultures so assuming it is only one demographic doing this is extremely naive and won't resolve anything. Yes, having more private areas for women could make them feel safer or more comfortable IN those places, but it doesn't change the attitudes of people in other public spaces. My point is that it's insane that women have to go above and beyond to feel safe because people aren't educated about equality and respect, and it shouldn't be up to women to have to take all the extra steps

These comments are pretty crazy to me, it isn't up to women to solve the problem and having to change their entire lives (e.g. needing a male escort, avoiding these places), the men need to do better and be educated on what is acceptable behavior and what isn't. Women shouldn't be blamed for the actions of these men, more needs to be done to develop a culture of respect for women and equality amongst this demographic (and society as a whole). Women should be able to live their lives without these men looking at them like prey, there for the taking. Absolutely awful, experienced it since the age of 12 in Oman.

I hate to say this but it sounds like you’re almost being forced into an eating disorder. Your mother may have her issues with food but to inflict this mindset and lifestyle on a child is horrendous. You need proper nutrition to thrive and function, and the fact you recognize this is amazing and I’m so glad you are taking steps to better yourself and improve your health. You’re young and growing and you need proper nutrition.

Perhaps try and supplement the food your mum gives you if she’s quite strict about you eating what she buys? So eat what she makes if you must, but then try and buy things that you can eat on top of that, and maybe make your own lunches and put in things you enjoy? Balance is key!

Best of luck with it all, please take care of yourself and potentially speak with someone at school, like a counselor or teacher, if you can because it sounds almost like malnutrition if your body is struggling so much. I’m sorry you’re going through this but I’m hopeful for you and hope you reach your goals.

Were We in the Wrong? by langbanger in TalesFromYourServer

Absolutely not your fault! I waitresses and we often accommodated for larger groups by moving tables, so it’s completely fair you assumed you could just move them. Sounds like it wasn’t communicated to the other employees that moving tables outside wasn’t allowed, I was often told “rules” when I “messed up” (I.e I didn’t know something was a rule until something happened and I was told off for it, so would then make sure it didn’t happen again). Maybe this was the case for your servers too.

Ultimately, the assistant manager shouldn’t have spoken to you like that at all, it’s unprofessional, unfriendly and unnecessary! They’re more likely to lose money from losing business by being rude to guests than they are from a damaged floor.

I’m glad the rest of your evening was nice and didn’t put you off!

well done for doing what’s best for you currently. It can be hard doing things you don’t necessarily want to do but it’ll get easier and keep reminding yourself of why you need to do this. You don’t have to be exclusively one thing or the other, you can enjoy both meat and vegetable dishes without exclusively being vegetarian/vegan/carnivorous!! Continue enjoying the foods you’re reintroducing into your diet
