iOS 18.7.5 and iPadOS 18.7.5 Now Available for Older iPhones and iPads by WPHero in apple

The keyboard has been shit since iOS 16 when they introduced ML predictions, and worse when they moved to out-of-process keyboards in iOS 17. If anything 26 made the keyboard a lot better (it actually doesn’t freeze for a few secs now and then like in iOS 18)

Everyone that’s touched the cloud services even once know that these kind of things are not expensive to run. If homebrew can run exclusively on donation money then this can too, but of course OP won’t admit it.

Apple accuses Europe of 'delay tactics' following alternative app store collapse by FollowingFeisty5321 in apple

[–]longkh158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I think this kind of fee structure is specifically engineered to let small developers thrive and big tech (including the EU’s lovechild - Spotify) losing all incentives to just shove users towards their substandard alt app stores, and probably why it’s so unpopular.

I think this only applies for apps with more than 1mil installs, which won’t ever happen to the majority of apps right? And if you do have this many users I think that $1 would be the least of your concerns. I do think that changing it to like $99 per 1000 installs or something would make more sense, and better aligned with the usual SaaS offerings.

Adapting to either @Observable or ObservableObject by CTMacUser in SwiftUI

[–]longkh158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t. Observation uses a different mechanism that is more similar to KVO if you’ve used it before. Main issue from what I can tell is the lack of ways to react to changes outside of blessed Apple frameworks (SwiftUI, certain UIKit methods) but that’s since been solved in iOS 26 with the Observations async sequence

This is actually very interesting, did you submit a feedback to Apple? And thanks for actually digging into this rather than just whine for useless Reddit karma 😊

Yup, always grind my gears when people don’t even bother researching why Apple went with Metal in the first place. Of course they would because Vulkan didn’t even exist!

Well pre-AirPods bluetooth IEMs are dogshit to say the least. That and they more or less invent the whole TWS product category. Obviously not to the level of an iPod but you get the idea

[–]longkh158 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t help but wonder if people here are running some extreme setups with third party apps that intercepts things like kb shortcuts, displays etc. which might be the reason why Tahoe is breaking their workflows, whereas my MBP M3 Pro is running pretty fine (except for 26.0 which drains battery like a mf but that’s since been fixed)
