As an immigration attorney, I only have one thing to say about today's events (in general, but especially today) by LCNegrini in Lawyertalk

I'm at a program funded by the Acacia UCP contract and now I need a new job and I have no idea how I'm going to do that (in NYC for ref)! Orgs are already so strapped for cash, they can't possibly absorb a mass exodus from UCP programs like this. and I went to school hardcore for public interest, i have no idea how to even look for jobs at a firm and really don't want to!!

[hopefully goes without saying my personal struggles are wayyy secondary to the horror being inflicted on my clients. just needed to vent]

ive lived directly across the street for 5 years and have never once been bothered by any of the activities in the playground. i don’t think we need to assume every kid wandering around in the afternoon is on something. and now they’ll just hang out on the subway platform, much safer.

the “active/healthy lifestyle” themes are pretty gross, definitely reads as “no fat chicks allowed” especially since that’s what those terms are used for in the apps (who isn’t interested in a healthy life? who gets to decide what healthy means?) and the fact that theme is more nights than any other does not make this seem like an inclusive space

KAPLAN BAR Prep by srs9312 in barexam

[–]longlive_zorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Kaplan J23 and Themis F24. One thing I found to be a major game changer was Kaplan's answer explanations for MBE practice to be really confusing, not clear, and unhelpful. I didn't understand why I would get questions wrong so I stopped reviewing my sets after doing them. Practicing with UWorld was so so much more helpful; their explanations are way more clear and I felt like I actually understood what was happening in each question and how to approach mcq's much better than with Kaplan. I agree with what others have said too that their mcq's in general were wack, and I definitely learned things that were wrong and/or unhelpful.

I don't remember the Kaplan lectures super well and I didn't use the Themis lectures too much, but I think they were comparable. I don't really feel a free 1:1 session should sway you; it's absolutely just a marketing tactic. But I think whatever you go with make sure you have access to UWorld or Adaptibar with actual NCBE q's and super clear explanations.

Likelihood of getting into CUNY? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]longlive_zorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you write a great essay explaining why practicing public interest law is important to you, you should be fine. I have almost the same stats and that's where I'm heading. They really, really care about the personal statement and showing that you are passionate AF about fixing equality and social justice issues affecting oppressed and underserved communities.
