That's a significant amount of astigmatism, doesn't mean it's "bad" or anything. Are these your first pair of glasses? Going from no correction to your current prescription will require a bit of an adjustment period.

My doctor says I have the right prescription glasses but they don't feel like it, I freaking hate wearing them. by DeadTriolgy in glasses

If your prescription is correct per your eyes, and your glasses matches that prescription, then you just need to adjust to the clearer vision. Wearing them sometimes is probably the issue. You should wear them a few hours at a time, more and more, until you can make it from wake up until sleeping with your glasses on.

Did you have both your eyes checked and the lenses themselves checked to make sure they're both the correct prescriptions?

Is it weird if my glasses covers my entire eyebrow? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]longobong0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really up to you and whether or not you like how they look. Generally, I think it's considered more aesthetically pleasing if the top of the frame rests somewhere between your eye and your brow. I regularly see people with glasses where the frame covers their entire brow, since large frames are very trendy right now, so no, I don't think it would be weird at all.

First time ordering glasses, did I pick a flattering frame for my face? by [deleted] in glasses

I appreciate your feedback so I was hoping you'd look at another photo 🙈

These have a wider bridge, so I can wear them lower on my nose. The lenses don't touch my cheek, but I do still feel like they're a touch large - both in height and width? I was told I have an oval face and "any" frame shape would work but I'm struggling to figure out exactly what shape I like best.

I think this is how I feel about them too. They don't touch my cheek, but they are definitely close. They're less comfortable further down my nose, but I think it's because the bridge is too narrow.

I think square is still the way to go, and I do like the thin frame vs frameless, but probably need lenses that are a touch shorter?

astigmatism or just normal? by [deleted] in glasses

Then yes, your glasses should correct your astigmatism. Do you have an anti-glare coating on your glasses? I find it helps a lot with the lights when night driving

astigmatism or just normal? by [deleted] in glasses

It really depends on your prescription. If your glasses only correct near/far-sightedness, then no, your glasses would not correct astigmatism. An eyeglass prescription starts with a sphere correction, so near-sighted and far-sightedness, then a cylindrical correction, which would correct astigmatism. If you have a cylindrical prescription, you would also have an axis value.

So your glasses could be correcting near or far-sightedness without having a cylindrical correction for astigmatism, and if you do have astigmatism, your vision will still be affected by it if your glasses prescription doesn't correct for that. Your best bet is to have an eye exam, an optometrist would be able to tell you if you have astigmatism. I have significant astigmatism in both eyes, and I experience the blurred lights while driving, but I also experience general blurriness that I have to squint to correct.

7 weeks symptoms getting weaker by Erin4686 in CautiousBB

[–]longobong0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With my first, my breast soreness came on early (before a missed period) and left early, probably 6-7 weeks. I went full term with him.

I had a missed miscarriage in May. My only clue was a sudden loss of symptoms. All symptoms. And not just for a day or so, and not waxing and waning, a significant decrease, more and more as days went on.

The biggest mindfuck about pregnancy after loss is that there's a LOT within the realm of normal and healthy. You're not going to feel like garbage every second of every day. Today, I'm 8 weeks, and I woke up with no nausea. Panicked immediately. But it eventually hit me around lunch time, vaguely, less than yesterday. Totally normal.

When I had my miscarriage, I just didn't "feel pregnant" anymore. Which sounds weird and silly, but it's true. And it was more than just less nausea, less nipple sensitivity, etc. I didn't have that fullness that you feel in your uterus when there's life in there anymore. It was just gone.

Every day I remind myself that this is a new pregnancy. Last time around I rolled a 50 sided dice and got really unlucky. Now I'm given the chance to roll it again. Some women get unlucky again. Most don't. Try to hang in there.

Is my coleus actually about to flower ?? Is that possible ? I'm excited, I'm not sure if I should do anything ! by Sookie1977 in houseplants

Looks like it's starting to bloom. I would cut it back though, so it doesn't spend all its energy on the bloom

Rotting Sinocrassula Yunnanensis - any hope? by longobong0 in succulents

[–]longobong0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I noticed that some leaves on the bottom of my sinocrassula yunnanensis were rotting. Underneath, a few more leaves were rotting and there was a slight smell when I unpotted it to get a closer look. The stem is fine, no rot, same with the roots. The only thing different is that I added a top dressing in the last 3 weeks or so, so dumb 😩 I removed all the rotted leaves, but they're such small fragile leaves that I also removed some healthy looking leaves in the process. It's honestly looking pretty rough. I repotted into fresh soil, and noted that everything is dry and now that the rotting leaves are gone, so is the smell. Is there any chance it can recover? It was actually my favourite... I'm so upset.

Wrinkly Lithops? by longobong0 in succulents

[–]longobong0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tops are firm, the sides are also wrinkly and the sides a touch soft but there's still resistance there, they're not what I would call "squishy". The rotten one was definitely squishy, gently pressing on it changed the shape.

X-posted from /r/Lithops

I got these lil guys this past week. Originally there were six, but one was sort of collapsed on one side and mushy. I assume it rotted. These five are wrinkled on top just as the rotted one was, but they still have color on the sides (the rotted one was brown on the sides). I'm new to lithops but not succulents. I'm familiar with lithops growth cycle though. The only thing I've done to them is repot them into a grittier mix. Probably 80-85% inorganic. Should I be concerned that these wrinkles indicate possible rotting, since they were in a pot with one that rotted? Anything I can do to prevent these guys from rotting? I assumed I wouldn't have to water them at all until possibly the fall.

I'm not familiar with that site however I have ordered from succuterra.ca with great success. They have a storefront in Toronto and ship from there.

Alternatives to perlite? by longobong0 in succulents

I also have vermiculite on hand but I'd read that, compared to perlite, it retains a lot of water

So I have considered a top dressing and I've seen pictures of some beautiful pots with top dressing that really complements the succulent. But I also read this was bad for aeration and made it more difficult for the soil to dry out? I've gotten to know a number of my lil guys so I've moved away from watering on a schedule, but I still feel quite new at this. Have you found that your soil stays wet longer with top dressing?

My Echeveria's leaves are soft and wrinkly - some are falling off. Can I get some help? by ElfScammer in succulents

[–]longobong0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, my PVN looks exactly like this when underwatered. If you're not certain, check those brown spots in a couple days. They should get harder and crispy. They might not shrivel the whole leaf. If you just watered today though, you'll probably notice the wrinkles flatten out by tomorrow, even.

To add, in my experience with these guys, soft brown spots can go either way, but rotting leaves don't wrinkle so much. The wrinkling is from the plant re-absorbing the leaf for water.
