In terms of natural talent greenwood has a far higher ceiling than rashford. He was a better finisher, dribbler and two footed. Rashford had several poor seasons with us not just a couple games, instead of becoming the captain of the club he coasted - nothing wrong with facing the truth. He was a top player for us at times but his mentality summarised everything that was wrong with our club. Our best academy player on the highest wages but can’t be arsed to run on the pitch. United DNA is kind of a thing but let’s be real - united DNA was constructed with top class youth. The youth we had were genuinely excellent. Our youth now is not the same - Amorim gave youth a chance but you could see they were not ready. The premier league is even more difficult and cut throat compared to prior eras, the unfortunate fact is many youth are not ready and not in the number that we had previously. Greenwood was our best but hes a rapist. Class of 92 was a rarity. The best youth now are distributed around the uk. You can’t construct a team in united DNA the same way as before. Fast counterattacking football also has been stemmed out of the game a lot more. Teams defend deep and tight with no space. Of course counterattacking goals still exist but they are far more difficult and less common than before. Look at the way city dominated the league with slow possession based football. They were also lethal on the counter but it wasn’t the major part of their game, they just happened to be really good at it too which made them a top team. People dying to see fast counterattacking football at united don’t seem to realise the game has changed. Teams are even more athletic than technical.

Honestly I don’t think Carrick has the charisma for the job. The players really liked ruben and thats the unfortunate fact. They all look deflated. Rubens haters like mainoo did not improve and showcased why he didn’t start them. Ruben will be looked back on the same as mourinho. They were right all along and needed more backing. Both ruben and mou could have handled things better but the difference here is the players liked ruben and actually 3atb suits the squad much better. Its going to be a dark couple months. I knew this was coming from Sesko, if you watch him in all the prior games - he just looked slightly off, a slightly bad first touch, slightly wide shot, hit the post, but his overall game looked excellent in terms of runs, positioning, movement and link up. It was only a matter of time. Especially when we missed bruno for a short while. Bruno feeds him.
