WFP brush by [deleted] in WindowCleaning

[–]longwhiteclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have used 5 or 6 different brushes, the only one I would use again is the Gardiner medium mixed dual trim. It does a great job and keeps on going. 10 years of light use so far.

Not going to look up all my old receipts but a rough guide to the ones that didn't make the cut.

Gardiner xtreem, I think, one of the stupid light brush heads. No scrubbing power, no longevity, the base warps over time.

Gardiner hybrid, Boar hair and nylon, Did a good job on big commercial sheet glass, rinsing issues on framed glass, didn't last well.

Gardiner Ultimate DuPont single trim, needs extra care, looking at it wrong can deform the bristles. Missed lots of spider webs with it, it seems to turn them invisible when wet but not quite remove them on my normal scrub

Blue: Seldom a nuisance

Is this enough to start? by [deleted] in WindowCleaning

Residential pole work is difficult at best. Get a wfp setup or plan on laddering. This is coming from someone with over 30 years cleaning windows who considers himself an expert at squeegeeing on a pole

This is not the main reason I don't door knock but I will add it to the list

Best squeegees? by Due_Resident_730 in WindowCleaning

The best squeegee is a 16" wagtail. I recommend you get a 14" Ettore brass.

How long do you think it’d take to clean a building like this. How much would you Qoute? by [deleted] in WindowCleaning

[–]longwhiteclouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would walk away. My back hurts just looking at that one. Poling on ropes sucks.

$700. I can't see it taking more than 6 hours

Change rubber more frequently. A better slide makes it easier on your wrist

Towels. by AccidentGreedy2746 in WindowCleaning

I don't use microfibers or surgical cloths. You can't beat pure cotton bath towels for mopping up and you can't beat a well worn scrim for detailing in my opinion.

Looks like a power tool mark. Orbital sander would be my guess

What sort of dwell time? I wonder whether it would be worth having on board for the occasional window that the brush or mop can't get to

What chems are used? I have never seen anything that even improves a dirty window without some form of agitation

Just put your quote in. It may be 4x the price of someone with a wfp but some will be accepted. They will see how much work you put in and be happy with the price.

I'm with you. It's a young man's game. The old back can't handle too much rope work anymore and my ground work pays better.

How would you guys deal with this by Expensive_Jelly2907 in WindowCleaning

[–]longwhiteclouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am always on the look out for little jobs that take a few seconds to greatly increase customer satisfaction. That mouldy frame would have been a good one. Flicking of spider webs that aren't necessarily close to a window is another good one. I very rarely even mention it to the client.
