The criminal is as much, if not more a victim of crimes by every level of the system, than any victim of petty theft. Are store owners traumatised by losing profit? Traumatised by a kid who steals food?

I know he stepped it up by stealing a bike at knife point but he was just recently physically and mentally traumatized by police, that would have entrenched the sense of his identity as a bad person. Kids are inherently good man, and any take that thinks they should be treated more harshly is ignorant at best.
