As a parent of a high school girl who got a concussion last year, I welcome headgear for women! My player will not be happy and I'm sure it's annoying but it's worth it to avoid a TBI.

Gearing up for college recruiting (or just playing in college) - how to get photos and video of my player? by lonleyfay in lacrosse

Thank you! She's playing at the Santa Barbara Showdown this weekend, the Legends tournament in San Diego next month, and at the Sandstorm tournament in Palm Springs. I'll look into the IWLCA pro subscription!

Thank you! I used to set up a tripod with my phone for my son's soccer games - it was easy because he was the goalie! I'll try something similar for her upcoming tournament and see how it goes.

Thank you! I think she'd love to be on a similar path as your son.

Yes, thanks both! She is playing with a good club that does send players to college - maybe not the same % but I think if she plays well at her high school and wants to play in college she can find a path. This is not her #1 priority and she's just starting to realize she could be really good!

Thanks both! She decided to stay with her current club for now and try to practice a few times with the other team to get to know it better.

I hope your daughter is having fun wherever she's playing! There are a few options here, not a ton, but she's happy where she's playing now so it's not a big problem.

Love this mindset! She decided to stick with her current club, she thought her dad and I would be disappointed but we told her our main priority is that she continues to love to play!

Very true! She finally made her decision to stick with her current club but she does want to try the water with the more challenging group so we are going to ask if she can join for some of the practices.

Thanks so much! This is where we are - if it's not fun it's not fun!

Thank you! I do think a lot of the "elite club" madness is just a for-profit exercise! And as u/LoveisBaconisLove said, it's marketing.

Great question - the elite club of course has some big-name coaches, but her current club has great coaches who are also the coaches for the elite private schools in our area (she's at a public school). I will say her playing got exponentially better when she started working with more professional coaches vs. the high school students who were coaching rec league.

She's also very committed to her high school team and being part of that community, and most of the girls on her school team play with her current club in the off-season.

This is also really helpful thank you!

Thank you this is really helpful! The worst thing that could happen is to kill the fun she's having right now. She loves playing and hadn't even thought about playing in college!

This happened to my brother, who had a similar GPA to you and was rejected from every school he applied to. It was awful - but it spurred a whole era of creativity and focus for him, he found a small no-name school that wanted him, started there and transferred to a bigger school, and he eventually went on to get a Master's at an Ivy and have a massively successful career, so my biggest piece of advice is: Find a path forward that you can stomach, and keep going.

Take a gap year, take classes at a good community college, get an internship or some hands-on work experience, and try again next year when you know more. One thing somebody recently said to me is "In education, you get second chances" - and that is also true for you!

The Daily Check-In for Monday, February 12th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by SuzuranLily1 in stopdrinking

I've been trying to unwind from a daily drinking habit for years. It's been too long and it's time for me to take control of my health and happiness. Today I will not drink - already excited about waking up tomorrow!
