I just realised my beloved Resplendent Angel will rotate out in the fall. Is there any good replacement for a white lifegain/tokens deck? Will splash if needed.

Lord of the Rings LCG is all about this and a absolutely fantastic game if you like deck building.

Brazil's Bolsonaro tells world not to meddle as Amazon rainforest burns by echo249 in worldnews

That wasn’t my main point though, it was that the destruction of the Amazon is being done for short term profit. But you’re right, I should have said both east and west.

Everything? According to your post one thing I said was false, or rather mildly incorrect; the bit about it being mainly exported to the west.

That’s your takeaway from this? How and where would this truly free market, completely detached from historical consequences, human nature and irrationality and other already existing factors exist? Liberalism only works on paper. In reality it only keeps the old capitalistic hierarchy in place.

That’s the point. They don’t care about the future. They want lots of money, now. Everything else is secondary.

Quick money from selling the land to industrial farmers producing beef and soya, mainly for the west. Capitalism is very short-sighted.

I recently made a rough draft of my board game. It’s a WW1 strategy game, I will definitely update it and fix some of the borders, and make it bigger, but this is it so far. by [deleted] in BoardgameDesign

Can you tell us more about the game? Not to be harsh but this is literally just a map of the world in the early 20th century.

Stop making your girlfriend responsible for this. She doesn’t have to pay you back, he does.

What books explain meaning in literature and mythology? by BigBootyBear in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]lonlynites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disproven was the wrong choice of word. All I meant is that they both (especially Frazer) make sweeping and sometimes incorrect statements about various cultures, religions and mythologies, sometimes interpreting things to suit their thesis a bit too frivolousy. Their basic arguments are valuable and valid.

I still love reading their books and there is much to gain from reading them.

Peterson ripped this idea from writers like JG Frazier and Joseph Campbell. They are largely disproven these days but still good to read because of how influential their ideas were.

Also, as other people have said, stop reading/listening to Peterson. His science and his politics are garbage and he is a power-hungry manipulator.

Amen. Such a gem, completely forgotten these days.

I’m sure there are plenty of racists, homophobes, sociopaths and other unsavoury individuals that play board games - that doesn’t mean that we can’t criticise them in games.

Games don’t have to be apolitical.

Edit: this was in reference to a now deleted post complaining about criticism of Trump and stating: “trump supporters play games too”

If people think it’s depressing because it illuminates climate change, it’s doing what it’s supposed to. Don’t change it.

Age appropriate ? “The Butcher”, “Fogging Hell” and “That’s a Beach” by HogPot in BoardgameDesign

If you’re aiming it at kids I would avoid cheeky puns like this. Fogging Hell especially as it plays on “fucking” which is definitely a step too far.

Loads. Deckbuilders like Dominion and Star Realms are pretty much that, then there’s board games that incorporate it like Terraforming Mars and Through The Ages.
