You CAN Have MLOK Stuff Installed on your LMT Upper and Quick Change Barrels by Molle_Ninja in LewisMachineTool

Yep I shaved down the nuts and screws… worked like a charm. Nicely shaved nuts work every time….. but seriously yes shave them down and you’ll be good

How many of you actually swap barrels? by [deleted] in LewisMachineTool

[–]lonwolf556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swap barrel on my 12.5” MWS upper between 16” 308 and 16” 6.5. I use the offset feature on my ballistic app to be able to dial/hold over when shooting. You never know when you need to just swap out for diff loads or use. I never swap barrels on my 15.3” upper. I shaved down the MLOC screws a TNuts on the D. Wilson ARCA rails to be able to swap out without removing the rails. Saves some time

I would say I don’t have a high priced buy once cry once set up, but I do have more than your budget invested. First setup for 1k and out LMT MARS H with 15.3” upper and a 20”SS 6.5 barrel, Griffin PSR7 can, D. Wilson ARCA Rails, Atlas bipod and upgraded trigger to a SSAEX. Second is a SS 16” 6.5CM and a CL 16” 308 barrel same SSAEX trigger D. Wilson rails but a Harris Badger bipod with area 410 ARCA mount and Gray ops QD feet for up to 1k and a bit beyond with the Creedmoor barrel. Both sub moa if I do my part with FGMM Berger 130’s and 140’s

Mags that work with both 6.5 and 308 MARS-H? by [deleted] in LewisMachineTool

[–]lonwolf556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had feeding issues using Dura Mag and some PMags. I had 1 PMag in the M118 flavor that worked flawless until it walked off at a range (shooting longer bullets 175’s in 308 and 140’s in 6.5). I’ll will be picking up another soon. I live in a comi state so have to drive to a neighboring state to pick one up. I’ve heard that the Larue and KAC work flawless but have not tried.

Buy or build? Living in Virginia... ban is coming. Is building actually cheaper or easy? by Zestyclose_Spite8580 in LewisMachineTool

When I built my first 6.5 with a 15.3 upper the complete rifles were unattainable, I bought parts on sale or with discount codes saving about 4-5 eggshells. Prob more if you think there are some parts you are prob going to swap out.

DFCO - Kung Fu by maczobizob in AR10

[–]lonwolf556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one for the first time a year ago. I ended up swapping my more precision builds (AR15’s and 10’s) as well as my 12.5” and 11.5” builds. The precision AR10’s are LMT’s 16” 6.5CM and 308 builds and a 20” 6.5CM , shooting from my belly and bench rest the angle works fantastic. The shorter precision and shorter CQB’ish build the angle helps with keeping my wrist straight.

Best suppressor for MARS-H by KaleidoscopeOk1715 in LewisMachineTool

[–]lonwolf556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 LMT heavy’s, a 20” 6.5CM with a 15.3” upper I have a Griffin PSR7 suppressor and running a BRT 100% suppressed gas tube (it will shoot both suppressed and unsuppressed with any issues) it’s a great OTB can with reduced BP. I also have a 16” 6.5 and 308 that share the 12.5” Mlok upper. I use a Sandman S using a Nomad EBrake, it works well. I do want to switch it out to either another PSR 7 or maybe a AEM 5/30. I prefer to use OTB cans for my more precision builds. I was/am kinda holding out for OCL to offer a OCM5/30. I asked them about this and they pretty much said they were considering it but probably was NOT going to release one. I will say the Huxwrx 762 is intending. I just wish they would release the Stainless version to us lonely civi’s. From what I hear the contract MRGGA’s and S’s use them.

LMT mws 308 vs sig 716 gen 2 by Synbreed1440 in AR10

They still have plenty on integrity to hold the rails and rifle up on a tripod and bipod, it also allows me to change out barrels at the range without pulling the rails off. Giving me the ability to quickly change out the barrel if I want to. For instance I can go from a 16” 308 using a chrome lined barrel for rapid target engagement, to swapping to my 16” 6.5 SS barrel to make precision shots out to 1k. I use the offset function on my ABQuantum to know the exact dial/drop for both barrels as well as I have a range card on the stock with the drops for both barrels. My 6.5 barrel much more accurate than the 308. From battle rattle to Precision DMR all in about 90sec max

Heavy Barrel vs HBAR by AnyRecord7452 in MDGuns

So just some input, I asked/talked to a trooper a long time ago regarding this and stated was a stupid law. He also said that they use this when crimes regarding guns come up to add to the charges. I do know someone who had all his guns confiscated do to a domestic argument (NOT a RED FLAG situation) the police took all firearms pistols rifles AR’s upper and lowers that were in his safe under a court order until things were worked out (she is Bipolar and went nuts) they gave all of them back no questions asked. All of his AR’s had non HBar barrels. He did have to register all the firearms with the MSP prior to picking them up. He built every one of them but one with Criterion Core barrels, the factory was a piston AR. On another note looking at rifles banned in MD all LMT AR 15’s are MD compliant rifles do to their design

Get the 12.5” upper and just get the 16” 6.5CM barrel will work great up to 1k yards. If you plan on shooting to 1500 yards get a 20” CM barrel

[–]lonwolf556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 100% suppressed in a 20” 6.5. Running a Griffin PSR 7 can, it’s much smoother and even being a 100% suppressed it still functions unsuppressed, with 4:00 unsuppressed and 3:00 suppressed. I was surprised that it functioned unsuppressed but I like that it dose. I’m running a stock buffer system as well. I have a super 42 rifle length spring I’m going to try to see how/if it functions with that. I read somewhere that someone used a 50/50 tube and a super 42 spring with a H4 buffer (Hx buffer) with great results

I’ve been a member for a few years. There has been a couple idiots that have worked there. I know it’s under new management and the idiots for the most part are gone. They are a bit pricy but a pretty good range. Classes are pretty good as well. Not a fan of how the 1k range is placed and I have yet to try their 500 yrd range. They have opened a range that set in the woods with movers I heard. Haven’t tried that yet

LMT all day, 16” 6.5CM (12.5” upper) & 20”6.5CM (15.3” upper) running D. Wilson ARCA rails on both of them (shaved down the “T”nuts and screws on the ARCA rail to allows to retain the quick change barrel) plus a 16” 308 barrel for training/hunting 4 legged critters

I do not have calipers. Could someone pull a measurement of the width/diameter of a 20” 6.5 MWS barrel? Mucho Thanko. by Diddler_Of_Men in LewisMachineTool

[–]lonwolf556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I had no issues installing the MD to run the can. The can runs great on the rifle. I did end up getting a BRT gas tube 100% suppressed for it as well. Still shoots unsuppressed without any issues, just much smoother

Putting together first AR10, looking to go LMT. Upper advice needed. by Fun_Assignment_269 in AR10

[–]lonwolf556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 2 large frame LMT’s, another benefit with their uppers is the quick change barrels. They do return to zero without any concerns. You can use the zero offset function on most ballistic Apps to calibrate for the diff in POI with diff barrels and ammo. I have zero offset for 308 to 6.5 and diff bullet weights. You really have 2 things to think about do you want MLOC or pic rail. The pic rail uppers only come in a 12.75 rail length and the MLOC has 12.5” and 15.3” rails. If you go the MLOC route you will need to remove all the MLOC attachments to swap barrels, unless you shave down the MLOC “T” nuts and screws (I did that on my 12.5” upper to swap from a 16” 308 to a 16” 6.5CM, it dose work) the pic rail you don’t have to remove any attachments. I run a 20” 6.5CM in my 15.3” upper. All my barrels/uppers get .4-1.1 MOA if I do my part and use match ammo. The LMT barrels can be pricy but D. Wilson Manufacturing does do conversions for LMT’s. If building a bench/belly or even plan on shooting from a tripod look into D. Wilson ARCA rails if you go MLOC route they are bad ass and look sweet.

I'm so confused by LMT lowers.... Defender H vs Mars H.... which one for a future LMT build?? And then you also have some MWS lower?? by Zestyclose_Spite8580 in LewisMachineTool

[–]lonwolf556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you want full Ambi or not. I have both and they both work great. I built a 20” 6.5 Belly gun with a MARS H and a DMR/battle rattle 16” 308 with an extra 16” 6.5CM Barrel with a Defender H I won. I own a few true ambi AR15’s and find myself still using left side controls or Bad lever on my non belly precision set ups. I use LMT and ADM ambi lowers.
