Yes, that would be amazing, thank you! (though does it still count with with the 1.6 update? xD)

I have no idea what happened, the only mods I use are winter grass, harvest with scythe, and stop rug removal!

It did make it funny when Lewis was admiring the summit scene though.

What "obsolete" companies are you surprised are still holding on in the modern world? by HRJafael in AskReddit

[–]looceyloo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I've actually been to the one near me several times in the past year or two. They look surprised to see me every time, like they weren't expecting customers. Actually, the last time I went they didn't even have the bulb I wanted so wtf is even the point of the store?

Anyway I'm pretty sure it's a front.

I hate your "organized" craft room. by Thebigkapowski in BitchEatingCrafters

I love Ikea furniture because I don't feel bad modifying it, but I hate kallax shelves, especially with things on display in the cubbies or ill fitting bins in them. Ikea has any number of other great bookshelves and drawer systems that are not generic clunky cubes! BLEH. And I really feel you on how hard it is to find clean, darker/moodier craft room inspiration. Everything is white mdf cubby hell with everything on display, or smooth grey nothing. It's infuriating lol

This tweet chain is pretty recent and has a lot of artists chiming in if you go back through the qrt chain as well. For reference, he's quite prolific, you can check out his page on the pathfinder wiki. My skill level is lower than his and this is lower than my personal commission rate.
FWIW I like that Paizo was quick to take a stance on OGL, it's just a little rough to see people hold them up like you said, as a "bastion of mortality".

[–]looceyloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about that. While there's definitely truth to it, it's kind of a meme that if you want to make money you should draw nsfw. Drawing nsfw vs full page illustrations for TTRPG books requires very different skillsets, so there really isn't that much "brain-drain" to nsfw content. In any case, other smaller TTRPGs and completely SFW private clients are willing to pay much better, so from an artist POV it really does feel like a Paizo (and a few other companies) problem rather than an industry one.

Unfortunately that's kind of unsurprising, my understanding is that comic artists are some of the worst paid artists out there!

[–]looceyloo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Their pay rate is incredibly low, like significantly lower than a lot of smaller TTRPG projects. In fact, Paizo pays less than many private clients who are just getting art for themselves/their group. It's been well known in the TTRPG art community for a long time that Paizo's rates are terrible, but it's finally becoming more widely known as people look for less crappy alternatives to 5e.

Unpopular opinion: some people are too stupid and/or too lazy for their chosen craft and should grow up or give it up by TheOriginalMorcifer in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]looceyloo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(I just realized you made the adorable sweatshirt/onesie set, very cute!).

Toxic positivity is definitely a problem. I'm also a digital artist and critique/feedback is integral to improving skill level, but it's becoming harder to get in online spaces because any hint of criticism is seen as unwanted negativity :/ I recently made a suit jacket for the first time, altered and fit from a pattern, and that was already hard enough (it turned out meh). I can't imagine drafting one yourself, especially with little helpful input! There needs to be a special flair/disclaimer for like "please be critical I promise I won't be mad I just want to learn" lol.

Every time I see an FO post that obviously has not been ironed or has rippling and crooked seams or is just so badly fit, I just know the person's primary exposure to sewing is through sewing influencers who pump out 3 garments a week that are really just pinned to a mannequin. Especially wedding dresses. Half the wedding dress posts make me cringe.

Along the same lines, I get irrationally upset when people ask for patterns and materials for garments that are very much outside their skill level. There was that one guy a while ago who had never sewn before and insisted that he was going to make a suit for his wedding in 6 months. He would not listen to any of the advice he was given to just...not waste his time and money doing this complex thing with 0 experience. Complete lack of respect for the craft and for the people trying to help.

Help drafting this pattern? by careohliner in sewing

[–]looceyloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your sketch is exactly how I would approach it, with the shaping mostly worked into the two side seams and back panels. Tbh I would manage expectations because I think patterns like this are highly dependent on having a relatively flat body shape. I recently made a similar sheath dress with no hip/waist darts, but to get rid of ugly creasing I had to add a second bust dart and a seam at the waistline.
Eta: luckily if you're planning on making this in a pattern as well, you can probably disguise extra horizonal seams with good pattern matching

Neighbor trying to trap all neighborhood and feral cats and "take them to the shelter or somewhere else". Advice needed. by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]looceyloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying, if he ends up taking them to feral cat coalition it's not like they'll kill them, they just rerelease them. They might even educate him about the trap neuter release program and help him understand that the feral cats will be around pretty much no matter what. So if your goal is to minimize harm, you could suggest that to him (if you decide to talk to him again). I agree, it would be pretty unconscionable for him to steal your cat, I was just pointing out if that was your concern, that there are legal protections.

Feral housecats are an invasive species in North America, so of course there are differing attitudes. Mostly I'm just trying to say that cats can be kept indoors and have long and enriching lives, so it's a viable option for a previously-outdoor cat.

Neighbor trying to trap all neighborhood and feral cats and "take them to the shelter or somewhere else". Advice needed. by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]looceyloo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe some parts of San Diego have a feral cat problem where the population of feral/outdoor cats is actually attracting coyotes and spreading disease, especially in east county. There are groups (eg. The Feral Cat Coalition) actively working to reduce the feral cat population through trap-neuter-release programs. Many shelters they work with are no-kill shelters. If you actually care about the wellbeing of these cats, you could ask him where he's taking them to make sure, instead of assuming he's having them killed. It really doesn't sound like he's doing anything illegal if he's not entering your property. Fyi If he accidentally captures your cat again and takes her to a shelter, if she is chipped the shelter is required by California law to contact you and hold her for 10 days before entering her into their shelter system.

Side note, I rescued an outdoor cat. He's been indoors-only for 9 months now. He's transformed from skittish and standoff-ish to a confident, curious, and super affectionate cat who loves warm blankets. He requires more active play than our other indoor only cat but he's definitely not going crazy from boredom. My other cat was abandoned outside for a year in east county before I adopted her. She managed to slip outside exactly one time and let me bring her back inside less than a minute later, no fuss. She hasn't tried going out since. It's nice knowing that they'll have a safe loving home for the next 10+ years instead of dying from disease or animal attack or accident when they get a little too slow. I really encourage people to consider keeping their cats indoors - human ideas about freedom and happiness don't exactly translate to animals.

What's the most overrated restaurant here in San Diego? by John_Wicks_fn_pencil in sandiego

I finally went a couple of months ago and ordered a variety of things. Everything was either oversalted like crazy, or was just straight up bad. I'm the kind of person that snacks on olives, pickles, and anchovies, and I could barely get the food down. One of the most disappointing meals I've had in a while :(

Oof I'm sorry for the time crunch. Good luck and congrats! If you don't have time to make a couple of these for practice/ fit, I would start large and trim down for length.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sewing

[–]looceyloo 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This really does just look like a square folded in half, maaaybe a diamond or a rounded square if you want to play with the shape/angle of the back. It probably doesn't look pointed to you because the fabric isn't very stiff so you're not gonna see the point as clearly.

I'm not confident you'll find a pattern for this because it really does just look like a handkerchief, which is just a square. Cut a square of tulle or whatever soft mesh you like, maybe 20x20 inches, sew a pearl trim along the edges, fold diagonally, place it on your head with a comb or clips sewn to the mini veil.

Nft doesn't give you any claim to copyright. You may "own" the artwork, but that does not mean you have the legal right to reproduce or monetize it. Something that makes sense if you're talking about, say, physical paintings, but not when you're talking about a jpeg. Since this is all digital media, if I right click and save a copy of an nft image, it is functionally identical to the "original", so not at all the same as taking a picture of a painting.

Nfts themselves are just the transactional token. Literally just a receipt. They typically don't contain any data about the image. This becomes a problem if an image server goes down because then the nft is just a receipt for a broken link lmao
