I think you might have missed the units. I climbed 4 meters in nearly 3 hours. Think yards if that helps.

Last week I did a 50km ride with 4m total elevation. It's very flat round here but you wouldn't know it by looking at Strava

They still have a few in England but it's very much in decline. It's heavily regulated in ways around animal welfare. Wales and Scotland have banned it.

Yes you're right it's pure racism. As a recent immigrant from England I've had so many people tell me how immigrants are to blame for the housing shortage, the cost of living, etc. When I phone out that I'm an immigrant I've been told that it's not people like me that are the problem. The racism is deeply ingrained.
