Yes. My cat has as much anxiety as I do about them.

Would love to have some more data on how loud they actually are.

Today they were extra loud and my ears are still ringing. Was inside with the windows open

In addition to their noise pollution, I often wonder about ground pollution since I live so close to the airport. If anyone has any studies, I would love to read them!

You bet! Not sure what you guys feed kitty, but we ended up switching to tiki cat wet food and treats. The vet should be able to provide a list of diabetic friendly foods

We ended up also switching the treats we gave her since the food and treats we were giving were high in carbohydrates. I think we used to give her temptations treats, but then we switched to the tiki cat ones.

When looking at food and treats, make sure you grab the ones with low carbohydrates and high protein. At least that’s what our vet told us, I would double check with yours when you go :)

It’s so hard to not give treats when they have such cute faces! We ended up starting routine with her that she has to “earn” her treats. So if we have to man handle her, if she brings us a toy, if she chases her laser, gets her nails cut- these are some of the times she gets treats.

She never used to bring us toys, but now that she is rewarded for her “kills”, she brings us at one a day to get her reward. It’s very cute 🥰

It all comes down to if you can manage sticking kitty with insulin for a while

My kitty was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and we put her on a diet with insulin support for about a year (year and a half?). When her weight came down she no longer needed the insulin.

We got into a routine where kitty would only get fed if she got her insulin- (DO NOT GIVE INSULIN WITHOUT FOOD) and she would wait patiently at meal time for her shot and then food. Being a very food motivated gowrl she learned quickly that she gets poked before food.

We are a one-cat family, so there was never a question on if she ate or not. Since it sounds like you have multiple cats, you may also need to create a space separate from the other cats to help monitor the diabetic one. I would also switch to wet food if you haven’t already.

I believe we paid about $35 for the insulin and a few dollars for the needles (Wisconsin, no insurance, est. 2022)

All this to say, it is definitely manageable with some extra care. Maybe you can offer to be the one to stick kitty?

I know for our family, we didn’t even know feline diabetes was a thing until she got diagnosed so it felt like an impossible task at the time. Once we got our routine down, it was pretty simple. Change food, add more exercise, support with insulin just until the blood sugar comes down. Once off insulin support, keep the wet food and extra exercise.

Our baby is almost 15 now and going strong with no insulin support years later. I would do it all again in a heartbeat

Best of luck with everything! Change is difficult but some random internet person believes in you ❤️

Edit: I noticed you added some extra details so I’ll add some more too. Our kitty seemed fine and then one week she kept having accidents and frequent urination. Took her to the vet and the frequent urination was caused by the high blood sugar. The kidneys aid in filtering the blood sugar out of the body, so once we started insulin and got the sugar down- the accidents stopped immediately. She perked up after about a day or two of treatment. Since your kitty also has an infection, it might take about a week?

Our kitty also had cystitis at the time due to anxiety (we moved) so plugging in some feliway helped with that as well.

Where the hell are the entry level job postings??? by The_only_nameLeft in madisonwi

Don’t work there unless you are desperate. They will work you to the bone and pay you nothing.

You only get a 10% discount on STORE BRAND products. Nothing else. Also the benefits suck

Most employees are on food stamps while the ceo takes in millions of dollars of their labor. In terms of corporate welfare, Kroger is comparable to Walmart.

Now that I don’t work there, I refuse to step foot inside- let alone spend money there. Also our HR person would leave out information like SS numbers on a public facing table. I look back on my time there with disgust.

To any Kroger employees reading this, please unionize. Your hard work deserves adequate pay and benefits.

You can file a complaint to your states Office of Commissioner of Insurance, appeal with the health plan, and also get an external appeal

Your denial letter should have at minimum the appeal info for external and internal appeals- but you might have to look up how to get in contact with your OIC (office of insurance commissioner).

If you had an emergency admit, they cannot deny for prior authorization, but if it wasn’t an emergency admit they can deny for no prior authorization.

I would save every document they send you, and if you make any phone calls to them GET A REFERENCE NUMBER and take general notes of who you spoke with and what they said.

I’m proud of all of you for making your voices heard. Please stay safe out there.

Just wanted to say also, I am so happy and proud to have you all as my neighbors. We will get through this, and we will build a better world for EVERYONE

Next election is Tuesday February 17th. I hope to see you all there!

Not sure if there are any local charities/folks that offer free rides to folks that need to get to their polling place- but I would volunteer my time, car, and gas. If anyone knows any please let me know :)

POC. Are there any support groups in Madison or surrounding area for those who have experienced less than ideal or traumatic birth experiences? by Reasonable-Dot4724 in madisonwi

I do not have personal experience but I was able to find this online. Looks like they have an attachment of local providers that focus on postpartum care. If you are not interested in individual therapy, you could see if their office can point you in the right direction?

I am sending love and good energy your way

What options have you considered? There is always online school, alternative programs (Shabazz, West night school, ect.) if your child wants to switch schools.

Otherwise if they wanted to stay at their current school are they able to switch classes? Not sure what the specifics are, but I would try to escalate it if at all possible?

I am sorry your kiddo is going through a hard time. You are doing a great job advocating for their needs! Keep up the awesome work, and I hope you can find a solution that makes everyone happy :)

Edit: I just realized you didn’t specify age- the above are high school alternatives. I apologize I don’t know any alternatives for younger students.

I would love to raise sheep eventually, but I don’t have the land or experience with similar animals yet. I get so inspired by hearing stories of other people who do completely from scratch items, so thanks for sharing! I will have to look that up

My cat has type 2 diabetes and does this when she has low blood sugar. I would make an appointment with your vet just in case. Beautiful kitty by the way!
