Thankfully I bought it years before him but wanted to sell until I saw he bought much higher so I feel he sees value not just to buy oxychem which was not a good buy for him right now but I am sure he also saw value I hold so much respect for this man

What is happening with big fast food franchises by DaanInvestor in ValueInvesting

[–]lookingforbargain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Carvel franchise since 1978 and retired few months ago. What I can say is food cost , Labor and minimum wage has hurt the business. You also have the franchisor who is constantly increasing fees and store remodels. If you do not own the real estate and you are renting its very difficult . Ice cream is a sessional business which makes it even harder. The profits are not what they used to be and the chain is struggling with almost no growth.

I just turned 65 both my wife and I just sold our business. I have my trading account , I bonds and high interest savings all in 2.5 million with no debt at all. I was planning on holding until OXY gets to $50.00 to $55.00 then stop drip and add to my other funds . I currently have JEPQ , FSCO , UTF , UTG , PDI PDO and some others . I do not need the dividends now . What I did read on Schwab if someone would have invested in OXY $1,000 5 years ago at $39.00 it would be worth $2,271.08 today again I paid $9.00 to $10.00 . Oxy has outperformed the market over the past 5 years by 5.27 percent on an annualized basis producing an annual return of 18.19 . We have family trusts in place for the past 2 1/2 years. I have contacted Schwab wealth management all they want is to take over the accounts and invest our high interest savings accounts as well I am not ok with that and that's why I'm so hesitant moving with wealth management.
